Hi I'm Janell

I'm a Mormon. I have always been a Mormon and I love it. I taught 7th grade science but recently I retired to go on a mission.

About Me

I am a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a science teacher, and I am a mormon. I love teaching. It is in my blood. As I raised my children, I always looked for ways I could teaching them things rather than doing things for them. I loved teaching science but I have always wanted to serve a mission so last December I retired and my husband and I put in our mission papers. We have been called to serve in the Alabama Birmingham Mission!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon but I had to be converted too! I remember as a youth wanting to know if it was true and praying and reading to gain my own testimony. Now that testimony burns within me. I love paying my tithing. I know that the Lord will always bless my family with means sufficient for our needs. I love saying my prayers. I know that the Lord hears and answers my prayers. I love reading the scriptures. I often receive answers to the problems I face by reading the scriptures. In every facet of my life, this religion has made me a better person and has helped me live a better life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reaching out and caring for others. Whether it be by helping someone at school, church, home, or in my community. I am always looking for someone I can help. In my home, I play with my grandkids and organize family get-to-gethers. I am always looking ways to keep my family close and communicating. At school, I ran the science club. This was my way of giving my students something fun to do!!! We build rockets, organize star parties, hike mountains, care for our botanical garden, and give service to the school. In church, I have done almost everything. I have taught classes every type and age group, helped in the nursery, lead countless numbers of cub scouts, organized girls camps, and helped with the youth organizations. In the community, I volunteer at a nursing home currently. I have helped in political parties, given service to town and state organization but more importantly to me are the times I have been able to help friends and neighbors.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Janell
The Old and New Testaments are very important to me. I have read them many times. I have received inspiration through the stories and lessons taught in these books. To me, these books testify of God's love for us and people of all ages. The New Testament has has taught me of Jesus Christ's life, work, and mission. As I have read its pages my testimony of Jesus' love for me has increased and I know these writings are true. As I have read the writings of the early apostles, I am touched by the love and diligence they gave to the work and the testimonies that they bore. I love the Old Testament because these prophet not only testified to the people of their day but they also saw our day and have testified to us of the return of Jesus Christ to the earth and many other things that will happen in our day to prepare for Christ's coming. The Old and New Testaments go hand in hand with The Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants to testify that Jesus is the Christ and He will return to the Earth to rule and reign in the near future. I know these books are truly the word of God to us and they were written to increase our faith in Jesus Christ that we will have the knowledge and strength to keep his commandments and through our Savior Jesus Christ be able to live with God again.
