Hi I'm Mary Reed Gates

A Mother of two, Meme of 7, an Iridologist, an herbalist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love teaching online classes on natural health. I love helping people overcome health issues. I love to learn about all things in life and LOVE to get involved... I believe in trying to make the world a better place.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a household which not only didn’t value religion but rather thought of it as a big scam. Both my parents reported to be atheist. My mother sent me to a certain religious school which was known to be strict and austere. She figured that going there I would get my fill of harsh church’s principles. I was thrown out of that school, but kept searching. Something inside of me ALWAYS knew we had a kind Father in Heaven. As a child I hopped from church to church searching for a relationship to God, until I was 19 & married. At 21, I thought that maybe my parents were right. I couldn’t find God’s influence so I gave up. I started drinking and smoking pot. I saw my life going down the tubes. One night after a party, I prayed to God one last time. I promised Him that if He let me know what He wanted me to do, I would dedicate my life to doing it. That was on a Friday night…. Sunday afternoon, two Mormon missionaries were driving through my down and felt prompted to share the gospel with people on the street that I lived. :o) My ex husband was there giving me a hard time so I let the Missionaires in, basically figuring my ex-husband would leave… it worked. I wasn't planning to be there for a second visit but forgot and they showed up and taught me more… This went on for months. One day, they had to cancel and it was then, that I realized the void, the sadness that was there when I was not submerging myself into the Book of Mormon. That was not my full conversion, but it was a start. Since then slowly my love for the Gospel has grown. Why I am a Mormon? It isn’t because I had a visitation like Joseph Smith. But after joining my life is full. My heart is full of compassion for those in need and tolerance toward my neighbor….. and my very being is full of the sure knowledge that my Heavenly Father loves me, that Jesus died to atone for my sins. I am a Mormon and because I am, I have no doubt, that there is a God and He loves us.

How I live my faith

Well, I am not what I should be, but I am not what I use to be. I just try to be there is people want to know about God.
