Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a software engineer originally from Utah, recently moved to Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of four kids, between 10 and 18 years of age. My wife and I have been happily married for 20 years. I have university degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. I'm an avid amateur photographer and enjoy SCUBA diving, snowboarding, hiking, camping and hunting. In my spare time I also teach courses on firearm safety and self-defense. My profession, software engineering, has allowed me to travel to many regions of the world, and I really enjoy learning about other cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was raised as a member of the church, it wasn't until shortly before my 19th birthday that I acquired a testimony of its truthfulness and importance. This fledgling testimony led me to serve an LDS mission in Veracruz, Mexico, where I witnessed the deep power of the gospel to transform peoples' lives. I'm a Mormon not only because I wish to return to live with my Father in Heaven, but because I see the blessings of obeying His commandments in this life.

How I live my faith

Much of my church service has been in working with the young men. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in my youth, and I've loved the opportunities I've had to work with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. I love the great outdoors and enjoy sharing the beauty and power of God's creation with young men, and the opportunity it gives me to help shape them and teach them the gospel.
