Hi I'm Shannon Ibarra

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a baker at a community college. I graduated with an Associate's degree in culinary arts and a Bachelor's degree in marketing. I enjoy playing the bass guitar, attending numerous concerts, running, and reading and watching science fiction. I have a wife and a 3 year old son. Our son was born with lung disease and a heart defect. This has challenged our lives and made us appreciate life all the more. He is growing and learning everyday. In him we see the Lord's mercy and love. We are joyfully expecting another child in April 2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but fell away after high school. After a few life changing experiences and a struggle with an anxiety disorder I turned my life back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I realize now that great happiness comes from following His teachings and in knowing that we have a living prophet today to guide us in the storms of life.

How I live my faith

I show my faith in Christ by living through His example and serving others. I currently teach a church class twice a month about gospel themes as they relate to our modern times. It is enriching to share my experiences and learn and grow in my calling as a teacher. It is funny to be teaching because I feel like the person that learns the most is myself. I have been taken out of my comfort zone with my calling as a teacher and have relied on my faith in Christ to make up the difference in my weaknesses and shortcomings. I truly see the blessings of living a gospel oriented life every day when I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
