Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in Montana-Southern California-Idaho. Served a mission in Hawaii. Work as a North America Sales Manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for 32 years, we have 4 children, all married, 9 grandchildren. I love to golf, fish, snow ski, and ride four wheelers. As a Sales Manager I travel about 50% of my working days. I love working with good people and am blessed to do so in the produce industry. In the past our family has been active in the Boy Scouts of America, Rotary, Habitat for Humanity, Our Church, and other Industry Volunteer Organizations.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors joined The Mormon Faith in England & Norway then migrated to Utah between 1847 & 1856. Early in life I was not clear as to why they would leave a comfortable life style to move to a desert & seemingly uninhabitable region of the United States. Associating with friends who were not embracing the beliefs & standards set by our Church also led me to question whether I would fully embrace the standards or live as they were. While listening to someone speak of prayerful answers they might have had, or when I was selflessly serving others I often felt close to Heavenly Father. From age 16 I decided to strive to fully embrace the standards taught by the Church & seek to have the same confirmation others had received that Heavenly Father knew & loved them. At 18 I decided to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. Each night I would read, I was impressed by the doctrines of grace, love, atonement, examples of fairness, righteousness, honor, & commitment. I thought such depth and understanding could not have come just from the mind of an uneducated farmer such as Joseph Smith. Near the end of the book in Moroni, I determined to ask for myself whether the Book of Mormon was the word of God and whether Joseph Smith made this up or whether he translated it from the gold plates. I knelt by my bed & prayed. I told my Heavenly Father I had just finished the Book of Mormon, I was thankful for the understanding of the Atonement I had received, I believed it was inspired by Him, but wanted to know "the truth of all things by the gift and power of God". In the next few minutes I felt my Spirit lifted as if I was floating in the air. A joyful energy infused my body. I reveled in this state for what seemed to be several minutes. I knew I was feeling the Love of God, as if I was wrapped in his arms. From that night I knew Heavenly Father loved & knew me, & that Joseph Smith was a Prophet. This knowledge made it clear why my ancestors migrated to a desert.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a leader and mentor to young adults age 18 to 31. Service, teaching, helping others, being honest, working diligently to fulfill responsibility, sharing my love for Heavenly Father, and testimony of the restored Church of Jesus Christ are things I have tried to integrate into my everyday life. Each person I meet has a unique path in this world and I believe we should accept them for who they are "a child of Heavenly Father" therefore condemation is not even a consideration. Reflecting the love our Savior had for all he met is how I strive to view those around me. I hope others have the same tolerance for me as our Savior has for us.
