Hi I'm Aaron

I was born in Colorado and I love to play piano and I'm a Mormon convert.

About Me

I am a recent convert to the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints. I am a purchasing agent at a local home builder and I love to go hunting and to the symphony. I like to read science fiction and fantasy books and watch movies. I enjoy playing with my dog and going on hikes with my wife. I enjoy playing piano and learning new things about music. I've recently decided to brush up on my Japanese and German skills as well as make an attempt at learning some Esperanto, Saluton!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I decided to take piano lessons. When I met my new teacher, I didn't know much about her but I had a feeling that there was something different about her. We started out with a half hour lesson but as the weeks went by the lesson began to grow and not too long after that the lesson was two hours long. As we got closer to each other I of course knew that she was Mormon but that was no problem from my point of view. Of course, after we had gone on a couple of dates she told me that since her goal was a Temple wedding, she doesn't normally date non-members. I wasn't really deterred and our lessons continued on as per usual and we kept spending lots of time together and getting closer. Eventually, after some more dating we had a conversation about the importance of joining the church. I knew that it was a big deal to her and so I thought I'd at least see what the missionaries had to say. I also decided that it wouldn't go anywhere if I didn't approach the discussions with an open mind. So, I approached with an open mind and did all that the missionaries asked of me. My big question at first was, How do I know there is a God? And the missionaries told me that the only way to know that was to pray, with real intent, and a sincere heart. I also thought that I might as well try going to church while meeting the missionaries, so I would meet with them and complete the suggested scripture readings and then get a bit of a discussion at church. Eventually the Holy Ghost testified of the truth of the things I was learning and the Book of Mormon and I decided to get baptized just one month after starting the discussions.

How I live my faith

I mostly go to church meetings and try to learn as much as I can. I'm not just a convert to the Church of Latter Day Saints, but a convert to Christianity as well, really, so I'm trying to learn everything I can. I've read the Book of Mormon entirely but I have not read much in the Old or New Testaments so I'm working on learning my Gospel Doctrine. I'm really enjoying learning about the gospel in the Sunday school classes after our sacrament meetings. I have also quite enjoyed both Stake and General Conferences over the past year that I've been a member. It is very edifying to be able to receive revelations directly from the Prophet over the General Conference broadcasts as well as all the resources we have available at LDS.org for reading Ensign or even listening to audio podcasts of the Book of Mormon or Bible. I enjoy singing in choir and occasionally playing piano in Sunday school
