Hi I'm Dale

I'm an Arizona native, CPA, and father of 4 (soon to be 5). I love family vacations, movies, and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a native Arizonan, having lived here my whole life except for a 2-year church mission in Poland when I was 19. I have four cute, funny kids and another one on the way. My wife is a beautiful woman who works hard to keep us all organized and motivated, and she makes sure we are always working to improve our talents. I'm a Certified Public Accountant. I cheer for all my hometown teams in football and basketball (Sun Devils, Cardinals, and Suns), and enjoy playing some basketball and racquetball as well as taking family hikes when the weather is not scorching us. I'm a big fan of snack foods. I like to bake, and almost every Sunday I'm able to do what I call Experimental Recipe Day, where I try to make something I've never done before. I also like to sing. I'm always looking for a way to be a better husband and dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a church-going family, and my parents were very conscientious about teaching me good habits from a young age. As I reached adulthood, attended college, and eventually went on a two-year church mission, I saw more of what the world "offered". There's a lot of focus today on immediate gratification, or "get as much as I can as quickly as possible". Too many people feel that they can "only be happy if they only had [whatever]". It seems to me an easy enough answer that the things that will make us happiest in this life are the only things we can keep after this life i.e. knowledge, wisdom, personal integrity, and family and friend relationships. Material possessions may come and go. It's comforting to know that our Heavenly Father has not left us alone to figure out our own way, but can be reached through daily prayer. I also believe that He speaks through modern day prophets and apostles in the same way as when Christ was on the Earth. I know that if I stay focused on the things that really matter, I can find solace, comfort, and even happiness during the tough times.

How I live my faith

I think the best way to show my love for the Savior and my fellow men is by looking for daily opportunities to give service to others. Everyone gets busy, but it's often so much quicker and easier than you'd think to help change a tire, carry a bag of groceries, open a door, shake a hand, or even just offer a cheerful greeting. I believe that when people receive a helping hand or an act of courtesy, they feel a desire to "pay it forward". I look for those opportunities every day.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Dale
I believe that all our blessings come from the Lord. Showing that I am willing to repay Him through my tithing donations is just my way of showing gratitude. Conversely, if I am not willing to show my gratitude for the blessings which I've received, how could I expect or ask for more? I am happy to give back in support of church building maintenance, teaching materials, and the building of new temples. Show more Show less
