Hi I'm Duane

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Duane, I've been married for 16 yrs and have 5 wonderful children. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing sports and exploring bike trails. I like to spend individual time with each of my children to share some special moments that they'll always remember. My wife and are quite busy with our everyday lives but we cherish every moment that we have together as a family. It's truly been amazing to have been so blessed with such a beautiful family.

Why I am a Mormon

i am a convert to the church and am very proud of my decision to become a member. I did not grow up in a religious atmosphere and never really knew Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ. I was introduced to the gospel a few years after my marriage but never really thought much about it. When my family started to grow with children, I began to realize that there was more to life than just living here on this earth. I can recall the many times i was advised to pray about things and how foolish it seemed to me to speak to someone that I did not know even existed. I never felt comfortable while praying, always questioning things. Am I doing this right? Is anyone really listening? Why is this so difficult? So more years had passed and I still wasn't, "Getting It". My wife was a member and would visit the temple whenever she could find the time. I was always amazed at how wonderfully happy and humble she would be after returning from a trip to the temple. I began to wonder more deeply what was this place and that I needed something like that in my life. I then found out after some research that a temple is open to the public for some time before being dedicated. So i thought this would be my opportunity to see a temple for myself. I really began to pray with more meaning and real intent for understanding of this gospel. I found that my prayers had become more spiritual to me and the desire for prayer was becoming more frequent. So we planned a family vacation and had the chance to visit a temple open house as a family. That day has forever changed my life! The spirit I felt that day as we toured through this temple was simply amazing. Suddenly I knew without a doubt that this gospel was real and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the true church of Heaven Father and Jesus Christ. I was baptized a short time later and have experienced the enlightenment of attending a temple for myself. Best decision I have ever made in my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by praying and reading my scriptures. I enjoy working as the 11 yr old scout leader, it gives me the opportunity to help the boys develop into young men. I also enjoy visiting members of my ward to share the gospel with their families and being of service to those in need.
