Hi I'm Dave

Hi, I'm a Landscape Architect / Environmental Planner. I have 5 kids 3 in college, one in high school and one in 8th grade.

About Me

I've been married for 25 years and have 5 kids. I love my wife, family and my profession as a landscape architect. The Lord has filled my life with wonderful and challenging experiences. I'm so thankful that my Heavenly Father knows me personally and is so patient with me while I learn and grow.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon, my family are all members and our ancestors were present during the restoration of the church. My mom and dad raised me in a peaceful loving home where they taught by example. Allowing me to feel the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself. When I was a young boy I loved to play with my cars in the dirt, create imaginary cities, towns and roads. Concerned one day I asked my mom, “Is there dirt in heaven?” I don't remember her answer, but I do know this was the beginning of my love for design and creating places on this wonderful earth God created for you and me. Little did I know of the experiences and challenges God had in store for me. After serving a mission in London England I came home got married and we started our life together. We were both young and felt unprepared for the future challenges of life. Soon we were informed that my wife was pregnant with twin girls. I was going to school my wife was working part time and going to school, I had no idea how we were going to raise a family at our young age. A few months later my wife had complications and we rushed to the hospital. The babies were born premature and a few minutes later Stacy and Michelle, our babies died in our arms. I quickly gained a respect for life, developed an even greater partnership with my Heavenly Father knowing that if I put all my faith and trust in Him He would make a better life for me than I could by myself.

How I live my faith

25 years later, five kids, cat and dog we are still plugging away. This year my son came home from his mission, our oldest daughter got married, we have one daughter in collage and one in high school who just spent her first paycheck on skydiving. Our youngest boy is tearing apart the house and neighborhood looking for things to build. We have five cars in the front driveway and I wonder how a poor humble landscape architect and my wonderful wife keep this crazy house going. My profession is one of the hardest hit during the current recession. I listen to the gloom and doom news reports and read depressing news about our economy, state and country. I wonder if I'll have a job next year or what might become of my family. Just as fast as fear and frustration fills my heart, a peaceful confidence settles back into my soul. I quickly remind myself who I am and that if I put all my trust and faith in the Lord, be obedient and faithful to His guidelines He will protect my life, my family and give me the strength and courage to move forward. With faith and trust in God I found myself standing on the Arabian Gulf in the Kingdom of Bahrain helping a team of designers, architects and engineers design a man made island. We helped design beaches, marinas, parks and developed an open space master plan that would improve the quality of life for those living in Bahrain. I worked in Dubai, Ajman, Abu Dhabi. The highlight of all my experiences was going to church in these countries feeling the same spirit of truth, love and support, making new friends and trusting in the Lord both in my profession, at home and in church. I can't believe that I'm actually living my dream of a young boy, building cities, towns and places for God’s children to live, work and play. I am a son of God, a husband, father, Landscape Architect, I believe in Christ and I'm a Mormon.
