Hi I'm Sharon

I have lived my whole life in Coolidge, AZ. I have been married for 40 years and have 2 kids and 4 grandkids. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am recently retired from working in the school finance field. My current occupation is full-time grandmother (Mimi) to 3 toddler boys and 1 brand new baby girl. To be their grandmother is the joy of my life. I am also the mother of two (one girl and one boy) who live fairly near to us. My husband and I have been married for 40 years. We feel that is quite an accomplishment. Our life has been centered around family, church and community for as long as we have been together.

Why I am a Mormon

Going to church was always important to me. However, I always felt that something was missing. Even when I was "saved" in my previous church. It just didn't feel right. I was approached many times by the Mormon Church members and missionaries. I turned them all away for about 5 years. I never really knew exactly what they believed, only what I heard. But one day when I was at the store, my husband met the missionaries and asked them to come back when I got home, which they did. I was hesitant. But there was something special about these two guys. My husband was excited and things started to click. They asked if they could give us some lessons. We agreed. Once they started to teach me about what the church was really about - CHRIST- and showing me the proof in the Bible, etc. I was excited. My heart was bursting and I wanted to share what I was learning with everyone else around me. We had good friends who were members of the church and as I was watching them and how they lived their lives. I said, "that is the life I want to live", which was totally family-oriented, faith based and something you lived and worked on each and every day - not just Sundays. I found out that which was missing in my life. Is it easy? No. But it will be worth it. I know my family will be together for all eternity. This church is all about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Christ and is the center of the church's existence. People just don't realize that. I was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 1, 1976. It was the best decision I ever made.

How I live my faith

Since becoming a member of the church, living the faith means that I am constantly reading the scriptures, saying my prayers, seeking for the Holy Ghost to be with me to guide and direct me in service to others. I have had many callings over the years in the church. At this time, I have been called to teach and lead the young women in our Ward. This is such a spiritual calling as you must always be prepared spiritually. We have fun activities each week and special lessons on Sundays. These girls keep you on your spiritual toes! You must be ready for whatever they ask or need help with a situation. As young parents we strived to do our best in raising our children. Trying to instill in them a deep understanding of their Savior and how the church was restored. To give them a firm foundation that would hopefully carry them through their lives.

Who are the Mormons?

Mormons is a nickname given to the people that belong to the Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. We were nicked named after a profit from the Book of Mormon. Mormons come together to do what is necessary in order to build up the Kingdom of Christ. To be man to Christ. To teach the restoration. We want others to be blessed to listen and learn about the gospel. To know the true meaning of happiness. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by obedience. Living the laws of the gospel. Listening to our modern day prophet. By the continuance of reading our scriptures everyday. Learning about Jesus Christ and becoming so close to me where not only do we know him but he knows us. Just as the parable of the mustard seed. If we plant and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and bear from (Alma 32:28-43). It is the same with faith. If you are obedient to God's commandments, study his word and have a desire to believe, then faith will grow inside us. Show more Show less
