Hi I'm Nelson

Family and God mean everything to me. I enjoy working in Financial Services and engaging in any type of sport! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports and family. I am happily married with four children. My spare time is spent actively envolved with my children's lives and I wouldn't have it any other way. After the kids are in bed, I can usually be found playing basketball on a local church court or catching fly balls on a softball field. I also enjoy my daily profession as a Financial Advisor and seeing people better there financial situations each day. I enjoy life's activities by striving to live the standards taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised us actively involved in the church, primary and youth programs. However, the time came in my Junior year of High School, when I eventually had to know the answers for myself if Joseph Smith, The Book of Mormon, and other teachings of Jesus Christ were really true. I had been taught that they were all of my life, but needed to know for myself. I knew that in just a few short years I would be asked to serve and pay for a 2 year mission. I knew I couldn't possibly go to that extent without preparing myself and knowing if it was true or not for myself. So I began to read the scriptures more fervantly and ask in prayer to know if they were true. The answers came with feelings of peace and clarity. It seemed to make the puzzle of life complete and I could not deny once I knew.

How I live my faith

I have sinced served a full time 2 year church mission to the people in greater DC area speaking spanish and was able to share this simple testimony with them on a daily basis. Shortly after my return home, I met and was sealled for time and all eternity to my beautiful bride in the Temple. We now have four little kiddos and enjoy raising them in the church as well. The activities and organization of the church is the best support unit to each individual family. One way I live my faith is by serving in a variety of areas of the church. I have been blessed to work much with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster, as I achieved the rank of Eagle in my youth. I have served as a Sunday School instructor as well and enjoyed learning from the scriptures as I prepared the weekly Sunday lessons. I am blessed to be an early morning Gospel Seminary Teacher to about 25 High Schoolers from 6 to 7am before they go to school each day. There is much time and energy put into service or callings in the church, but I have found that I'm always the one who benifits the most from each of these opportunities. I would say that even if the church doctrines happened to be false (which I know are true), one would live a happier more fullfilled life than by following any other set of teachings. We believe life continues beyond the grave and this gives us purpose in life to strive for an eternal family. I know that God wants us to enjoy life. The type of joy that will last forever!
