Hi I'm Bryan Mendez

I'm from Southeast, Kansas. I'm a missionary serving in Nevada Las Vegas West. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello my name is Bryan. I'm currently serving a mission in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission from Aug. 2011 to Aug 2013. I come from a small family, a mom and a dad, one brother and one sister. I love sports but my favorite is basketball and I hope to play in college when I return home. In high school I ran Cross Country and Track In my spare time when i'm not playing sports or hanging out with friends, i love being around my family or doing model cars. By doing model cars I taught myself some patients and I have a little steadier hand. My family is such a great example to me! I have two dogs who are the best in the world, Rusty and Ginger. I love to smile and have fun. I'm very out going when I'm around people. Very optimistic and I'm very accident prone. The hopsital and E.R are a frequent visit and with some doctors I'm on a first name basis with.

Why I am a Mormon

I know this church is true. My testimony was strengthened when I was given the priesthood and then ordained an elder. Back in March I was in a car accident and I broke my neck. I came home from a date and a deer ran out in front of me. All I could do was to swerve to get out of the way. When I finally woke up and realized what happened to me all I could do was to get out of the truck and to get to the road where i could hopefully stop someone who was willing to help me. When i saw my truck I was stunned by the damage done. My forehead had removed the rearview mirror, my collarbone was dislocated from the sternum. The front passenger tire was bent parallel to the axle, the rear passanger tire was flat. The front driverside tire was bent in at a 45 degree angle and the rear driver side was perfectly fine. The cattle guard on the front had been smached so bad it was crushed like a pop can. I hit a concrete cluvert at 60 mph. The doctors and insurance adjusters aren't sure how i'm still alive but i know that my Father in Heaven was watching out for me and the he needed me in the mission field to help people come to Christ. I know that my Heavenly Father lives and loves me and that He sent His son down to atone for our sins so we could live with Him someday. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I've read it and I've prayed about it and I know that it will bring those who read and pray about it, happiness just as it brings me happiness.

How I live my faith

I go out with the Missionaries and help them teach people about Christ. Now that I'm 19, I'm serving my mission, as I've mentioned, in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. Faith was something i struggled with as I grew up and now that I know this church is true I have the opportunity to challenge people to come to Christ and to develop their faith in Him.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Bryan Mendez
Members who are attending church on sunday will most likely be wearing their "Sunday best", which may include suits, and ties for the men and modest dresses or skirts for the women. Children usually also dress up for church. Members of the church celebrate Christmas and Easter, becasue these two events are the most spiritually significant days in history because of the birth, suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ. Chruch members also celebrate the national holidays and the holidays that are regional to their areas where they live. Members also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and similar events.
