Hi I'm Abe

I have freckles and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying business. I love to learn. I love to have fun. I love to work hard. I enjoy striving to have a balanced life with family, friends, athletics, academics, work, dating, and who knows what else. Family has been and continues to be an important strength in my life. I look forward to starting my own family. I recently returned from serving a mission in Rīga, Latvia; I served along with many other young adults and learned the Latvian language. Daily we searched for chances to teach others about their relationship with Heavenly Father, about Heavenly Father's magnificent plan for us, and about how we can each receive lasting, eternal joy.

Why I am a Mormon

In short, I am a Mormon because I have felt repeated spiritual promptings that the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are true. My confidence lies in Jesus Christ, our Savior, and in our Heavenly Father. I know that they love each of us with a perfect love--a love that drives them to do whatever they can for our benefit. The don't desire that we would live out our lives in confusion or doubt, not knowing where to turn for truth. From the beginning of time, the have called people of great faith to be Prophets. These people (e.g. Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Joseph Smith in our days, among others) receive revelation for the world. They direct God's children to have faith, repent, and turn to the Savior. Prophets teach "The Plan of Salvation." This is the plan which God developed so that we could return to him after this life. Families can live together again even though they may be separated by death for a period of this mortal life. The assurance that I will live with my family again is a key part of my belief. Not long ago, my Mother was again diagnosed with cancer. Unlike previous bouts, this time the cancer spread quickly and it was not possible to save her life. After months of fighting, she passed away. Certainly, as a family we were praying for her health and recovery; However, we also knew that God's will is the most important factor. He has a vision far beyond ours. The peace that filled me at the time of my Mother's passing was all-encompassing. I know that I will see her again. It is my privilege to continue to live and do my best to help others to see the great blessing of The Plan of Salvation and the Gospel, that all may return and live with loved ones and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ gives us all a perfect example of how to live. He exemplifies every positive character attribute. I will spend my life trying to gain these same positive attributes that are inherent to the Savior. More than what we do, our Heavenly Father cares about who we are. However, these are closely related; what we do helps to shape who we are and can often be evidence of our inner character. I strive to be like Christ, thus I strive to do Christ-like things. Jesus kept every commandment of the Father, never giving into sin. I fall short of Christ's standard, but strive to keep all of God's commandments. These are a few commandments that I cherish and strive to live: 1)Keep the Sabbath Day Holy--This means that I attend church meetings every Sunday and partake of the Sacrament (the bread and water). Also, I do not work-out, play sports, go shopping, or do other activities that would distract me from thinking of the Savior. This day centers on God and our Families. 2)Keep the Law of Chastity--Chastity means cleanliness of body and spirit. I believe in complete abstinence from sexual relations before marriage and complete fidelity after marriage. This means that I must always keep my thoughts clean from immorality, avoiding pornography in any form. 3)Keep the "Word of Wisdom"--The "Word of Wisdom" is a name for the health code that God has given his children. To honor this commandment I abstain from tobacco, alcohol, tea, coffee, and drugs. 4)Keep the Law of Tithing--I love to give 10 percent of what I earn to the Lord. He has given me so much--in reality, all that I have--and to give back makes me feel grateful. 5)Read the scriptures and pray--God commands us to read the scriptures and pray daily. This has proven to be the most important habit in my life. It reminds me of the reason I believe and my commitment to God. I also strive to serve those around me and set an example to others each day.
