Hi I'm Dana

I am the wife of an entrepreneuer, and a mother of 4. I love my family, music, traveling and planning fun events. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have to say to talk about myself also means to talk about my family because they have helped me develop into who I am today. Howwever, backing up a bit, I graduated from college in music education. Music has always been a part of my life and I have enjoyed participating in musicals, choirs, teaching, performing etc. I married my husband, the love of my life, just before graduating. Two years later we moved back east to Virginia and started our family, we now have 4 fabulous children. During this time we were able to travel the east coast and a few foreign countries. I love traveling. Things changed a bit when I had a miscarriage between my 2nd and 3rd child. I decided to take up running to change my life a bit and reach some personal goals I had set. I completed a marathon later that year and it helped me realize I could do whatever I put my mind to. Our family loved the East but after 7 years we decided to return to our roots in Arizona. We have loved being closer to family. I love getting together with my mom and sisters. I love to plan parties work on all sorts of projects. Being home has been nice but not without challenges. My husband started his own business which has brought its own set of challenges and I have had 3 more miscarriages and a stillborn. However these experiences have only made my faith in Heavenly Father grow. I love my family and figuring out how to be a good mom despite lifes challenges.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it just makes sense I can't imagine living life another way. Everything around us in the world, the trees, sky, people everything shouts to me that there is a higher power, a loving Heavenly Father. When I was in High School I always felt I had a testimony but I guess I just wanted to make sure it was mine and that I wasn't going along with my parents or what another person had told me. So I read the Book of Mormon again and when I finished I prayed and fasted to know if it was all true and if this gospel was real. Well I didn't get an answer right away and it disturbed me. I felt I would find out right away with some great feeling. So I continued to pray. We had a youth fireside one Sunday and my good friend and cousin was sitting by me. He could see that my mind was somewhere else and something was wrong so he asked what was the matter. I told him about my dilemma and how I had been praying to know if the church and Book of Mormon is true. He turned to me and said, "Well what did you find out?" I just looked at him blankly. He said, "You already know the answer don't you." And he was right. At that moment I realized that what I had been praying for was to know the truth about something I already knew. I was thankful for that confirming answer and since then it just seems that everything makes sense. This is our Heavenly Father's plan and the only way to live in order to have true peace and happiness in our life. That knowledge brings me so much joy. Also to know our family will be together forever and we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. I want this for me and my family...that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday simply by being my best self. Of course somedays are better than others and it's wonderful to know I can repent and try harder the next day. I have had the chance to work with the young women and other youth in our church. It's wonderful to have the opportunity to help develop and possibly change their lives for the better. I have always tried to lead by example and show them that making good choices leads to happiness. I also play the piano for our choir and the younger children in our church. I love how music has a way of touching people's hearts and allows them to feel the spirit. My faith has been tested many times especially with all the miscarriages I have had. But I really try to live my faith by realizing Heavenly Father has a greater plan in mind and there is a reason for everything, even if I don't always know what that is. My trials have given me the strength to help my children realize they can do hard things, life isn't always perfect but we can still find joy. I live my faith by putting one foot in front of the other in the right direction.
