Hi I'm Dottie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of three girls. I used to be a Realtor, but now I stay home full time with my children. I really appreciate my husband and all his hard work so I can stay home. Even so, I adore my friends who help keep me sane on those crazy days. I love to cook and bake. Right now I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle, so I think it is super fun to take older recipes, and make them more healthy. Just tryin' to keep things fresh! I have lots and lots of scrapbooking supplies, but I don't really use any of them. I don't know, but it just doesn't call to me. I think you can never have too many patterns for sewing. Even though I haven't used them all, you just never know when you might need one! My husband says I buy too many purses, but I just haven't found that perfect one. Maybe someday. I adore Halloween and hope my children never get tired of doing family dress-up themes. My life is not perfect, I'm so far from anything perfect, but I think it's pretty great!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active family. After a while, things changed, and my parents divorced. Growing up I realized how important it is to have the Priesthood in your home, because we were without it. I could feel the difference at my friends houses. I could see the difference in their families with two active parents. I know my parents loved me, but something was lacking. I determined that I would live my life to be worthy of a Temple marriage and a Priesthood holder in my home. I had some bumps along the way. Sometimes I struggled and took a winding path rather than the straight and narrow, but I made it to the Temple with a wonderful man. It's not always easy to stand for what I believe. It does set me apart, but when I think of the alternative, I know I have made the right choice. The Gospel makes me who I am, and I cannot deny that. I cannot go back on the promises I have made to my Heavenly Father. I can be a good example. I can look outside of myself and seek out those in need. I can give a smile and a kind word. I can teach and learn. Even though I still sometimes take that winding path, I am so grateful that I always find my way back. I am so grateful to my Savior for all that he has done. So grateful for the opportunity to serve, help and love. I am thankful for His spirit that guides me each day of my life. This is who I am, and who I choose to be.

How I live my faith

For the past 4 years I have worked with the youth of the Church. It started with the younger children. For three years I served them and worked to teach them and help them gain a testimony for themselves. I was able to plan super fun activities and just be my goofy self. Now, I am working with the teenagers. Luckily, I still get to be my goofy self. They need a little goofiness in their lives! It is challenging and amazing all at the same time!
