Hi I'm Stuart

I teach kids Spanish. I enjoy music and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a high school Spanish teacher. I learned Spanish in Argentina, where I served a mission for our church. It was this experience, along with continuing my language studies in college and then graduate school, that got me interested in doing what I now do for a living. I enjoy sharing that initial language-learning and cultural experience from South America, and others that I've had since, with my students. Traveling, cycling, skiing, playing the piano, singing, golf and spending time with my family are a few of the things I like to do when I'm not teaching. I grew up in an absolutely wonderful family with loving parents and a beautiful younger sister. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins were also, and continue to be, a huge influence and strength in my life. Recently, I've lost both my mother and father to cancer and miss them terribly. Nevertheless, I gain great comfort and strength in being a member of this church and knowing that our family relationships do not end at death. There's no question in my mind that I will be reunited with my parents, grandparents, and many other loved ones again after this life, and what a marvelous reunion that will be!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is central to who I am and why I'm here on this earth. The gospel of Jesus Christ has taught me that I have a Heavenly Father, the literal father of my spirit, who has a perfect body of flesh and bone and in whose image I was created. I lived with him before I was born and he knows me and loves me more than I can imagine. It has taught me that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer who also has a perfect body of flesh and bone, and who also loves me beyond comprehension. Because of Him, I can repent, be made clean from sin and error, and return to my Heavenly Father in a perfect resurrected body reunited with my spirit. I have also learned that I'm not alone in confronting the challenges of life while here on this earth. Upon baptism in this Church, I was given the gift of the Holy Ghost. I continue to learn "line upon line, precept upon precept" that the Holy Ghost is very much my teacher and comforter. By always remembering Jesus Christ and keeping His commandments, I am promised the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost to help, guide and comfort me in every aspect of my life. Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three distinct beings. Their purpose, however, is one: "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life" of all mankind. I know these things to be true not by tangible, scientific evidence, but by reading the The Book of Mormon and listening to the "still small voice" of the Holy Ghost that consistently bears witness of these things to me.

How I live my faith

Most importantly, I strive to be a kind and loving individual. I'm grateful for the many caring people who have influenced my life.
