Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a Mother of two, an artist, and a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time Mom. I had two children in two years and now spend all my time trying to catch up with them. My husband, boys and myself live in a tiny apartment stuffed with books and movies and toys. Somehow we also found room to squeeze in two budgies (named Phillip and Greta). I love to draw and paint and sew and create. I love to bake and cook. I absolutely LOVE to watch the food network channel. I love to swim. When we have the time, swimming is my husband's and my favourite date. I regret to say I am not a perfect housekeeper and if you come over to my place unexpected, there is a good chance you will find the house in barely-contained disarray. However, I hate to dwell in unclean or messy places, so it is a conundrum, and let's just say that I am constantly trying to become a better housekeeper. Maybe one day my house will always be as clean as my Mother's...

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, but, like most people, went through my own period of doubt and indecision. I didn't want to stay a member just because this is what I've been taught my whole life. To me, it hinged on the Book of Mormon, and that's what I decided to base my decision on. I decided that if I read the Book of Mormon, considering it seriously and prayerfully, and found it to be true, well then--the Church would be true. It's simple: if the Book of Mormon is true, that means Joseph Smith really did translate it by the power of God, and was really a prophet. If he was a real Prophet of God, well then that means that the Church of Jesus Christ was organized through him (not by him) by God. Since I am taking the time, years later, to sit here and write this down, I believe it shows the answer I received, and am still receiving, every time I read the Book of Mormon, or listen to the current prophet or his apostles.

How I live my faith

Since I play the piano, often that is where you will find me at any given Sunday: playing piano during meetings. I love playing and am glad that I can use my talent, however small, to help things run along... Also, since we live in a small town with not many other members, there is often a need for help in Nursery. Although scared to at first, now I enjoy going and bonding with all the cute, chubby little toddlers (including my own). I share my beliefs naturally by example. People notice I am different--perhaps that I don't swear, or smoke, or drink, for instance. I try to live my life in a way that others will notice. It is the easiest way for me to share my beliefs with the world, because I am shy and find it hard to approach people. This way, people approach me.
