Hi I'm Nate

I'm a Mormon and have been my whole life. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up in Seattle, Washington.

About Me

I seem to have a lot of hobbies and interests from reading, golfing, being with my wife and family and windsurfing. My wife and I are expecting our first child (a baby girl) in October 2011. We like to spend time together both outdoors and in. Grilling a favorite pastime of ours and we also enjoy watching movies together. I work for a Big 4 public accounting firm here in Denver and enjoy the challenge that it presents on a daily basis as well as the people that I get to meet and work with.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a Mormon my whole life and it's hard to imagine what life would be like without out it. It really has and continues to influence pretty much everything that we do; all of it for good. In looking back at my life I can honestly say that the church and its teachings has provided countless positive experiences and helped me avoid a large number of negative influences. As a result of being a member of the church, I was able to meet and eventually marry my wife which would not have happened otherwise. Another great thing that I like is the church also gives you a constant source of new friends wherever you go. When you move or travel to anywhere away from home, people in the church are always there to help out and be your friend. We moved to Colorado several years back without having any friends or family in the area and without the friendships we've been able to make through the church we probably would have moved already. In short, the church has been and continues to be a key foundation in my life.

How I live my faith

The church influences how I live in a variety of ways. The church is entirely administered by the local members and each of us is asked to help out. Currently, I'm working with the 14-16 year olds within the Boy Scouts organization. I also get to be in their Sunday classes and help teach these young men as they go through some of the more important years of their lives. I also enjoy talking to other people about our religion and how it has impacted my life. There are a lot of misconceptions about the church and I enjoy clarifying those through conversation and how I live my life.
