Hi I'm John Taylor

I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in Utah but now live in Colorado. I am a husband, a father and grandfather.

About Me

I work in the Insurance industry and have done so for over 31 years. I love to read, recreational cycling and hiking, which is why I live in Colorado. I also enjoy board games. My wife and I have become big fans of the game, "Settlers of Catan" and have introduced it to many friends. We actually have organized numerous "Catanathons", setting up numerous tables and inviting 20 or more people to play. I have a great wife, wonderful children and four delightful grandchildren. I graduated many years ago from the University of Utah with a degree in history. Along with my other reading, I will always be found reading a history book, most likely on American history.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have prayed to my Father in Heaven and received from Him through the Holy Ghost the confirmation that this was His church, which teaches His children about His Son, Jesus Christ and teaches the doctrines, covenants and commandments which will allow us to return back to Him and to His Son, not only as an indvidual but with our families, whom we can live with for eternity. God have provided a living prophet, just as in ancient days, so the flow of truth and revelation comes to us as it did in the past. This is both wonderful and comforting to me.

How I live my faith

The wonderful thing about the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints is that it requires personal involvement and service. We receive callings which allow us to serve others, both in and out of the church. We are taught that the family is the most important unit in creation and we are given tools to teach our families, such as conducting a regular Family Home Evening on Monday evenings. We read scriptures and pray together as a family. I also read and pray individually. The church encourages us to learn the doctrines of our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ through reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon and other scripture. I love the opportunities of service and learning I have as a member and through those opportunities, have come to love both God and my fellowman much more.
