Hi I'm Emily

I am a wife, mother, and daughter. I am a reader, pianist, and nature lover. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my best friend for 13 years and together we have four beautiful children. Much of my joy in life comes from teaching, playing, talking, laughing, caring for, and loving on my family. When I am not doing that, I love to read and play the piano. I find a lot of peace and joy when I am in nature and can see God's creations and feel of His great love. Because of this, I try and find time for me and my family to hike, camp, boat, and be a part of nature.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have grown up Mormon, my testimony of Jesus Christ and His church have come from my own personal experiences. As I have lived the principles I have been taught, my convictions of their truthfulness have grown. I learned about the Savior and His teachings through the scriptures and church, which motivated me to change the way I think and act. As I made changes, I recognized subsequent blessings. I have followed this pattern to develop a testimony of all the principles of the gospel: learn, do, and enjoy the fruits, or blessings, that in turn testify to me of the truthfulness of that principle. In this way, I have felt directed by my Heavenly Father as to the things that are true and will bring me joy, peace and direction.

How I live my faith

I believe that to enjoy the blessings of following the Savior, it must be a part of our daily thoughts and actions. Some of my daily spiritual routines include reading and pondering the scriptures, where I can find answers to questions and prayers. I also pray several times a day to give thanks, ask for guidance, help, or strength, and to repent when I fall short. I believe the best way to come to know the Savior is to emulate Him through service. I love the joy I feel as I have been able to serve those in need. Through the years I have worked with people with disabilities, children at shelters, and the homeless. However, with four young kids, much of my serving now involves helping my children with their homework and hobbies, making meals for sick neighbors, watching children of a new mom, and being a listening ear for a friend in need. I believe that when we seek for service opportunities the Lord will bless us to find those that He wants us to serve.

Are Mormons Christians?

Emily
We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior. We believe that He is the only Begotten Son of our Heavenly Father and that He came to Earth in order to fulfill His Father's plan. This plan included teaching His gospel, setting up His church, and living a perfect life. The most important part of His mission was to suffer and atone for the sins of all mankind and to be resurrected. Through this act of love, he enabled each of us to be resurrected and to have the opportunity to be exalted and return to our Heavenly Father. To gain access to this great gift of the atonement, we must repent, keep the commandments, and follow our Savior's example of doing good. This will allow Christ's atonement to cleanse us and strengthen us to become more than we could on our own. There is no other way to exaltation than through our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the center of our faith and the head of our church. Show more Show less
