Hi I'm Blake Mortensen

I'm a Mormon. I am the father of three adopted children and 2 cats and one dog. I enjoy camping with my family and BBQ cooking.

About Me

I grew up farming in rural Idaho as 1 of 10 children. I became involved in 4H as a youth showing pigs at the fair. After receiving my degree in Animal Science I went on to become a Pork Producer. Needless to say I love Bacon. Together with my wife, of 15 years, we adopted three boys from the Foster Care and have had several children come to our home. We love to have children in our home and the kids love to have friends over to play. I enjoy camping and being outdors as well as gardening and my new intrest is learning about antique tractors.I enjoy working with my hands to repair or build equipment that I may need or rebuild items that can be useful again. I served as a missionary for The Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 2 years in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area where I learned about Big City life and the diversification of people in this country. I learned to love everyone for who they are and what ever they may beleive. We are all children of our Heavenly Father and He loves us. I am currently a Cub Scout leader in the community and have enjoyed scouting my whole life. I received my Eagle Scout award at 14 yrs old. I know that scouting can help build character in boys and teach them skills that they may not learn anywhere else. I currently live in North Eastern Colorado where there is not a lot of Mormons. We only have a small group in this area and would love to see the church grow. I serve in the Branch Presidency and love my calling.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. I have known my whole life that this is the true and living church of Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost has touched my heart and bore testimony to me many times in my life of this truth. Being raised in the CHurch I have witnessed the blessings of the Prisethood of God in action on several occasions and have been greatly blessed by its power. Serving two years of my life as a missionary for the church has helped me develop greater convicion for my beliefs. The standards I strive to live lead and guide me in my personal life, my relationship with my wife and with my family. Having the potential of becoming an eternal family greatly directs my life and the choices I make. Being a Mormon has brought me more happiness and peace of mind than anything else in this World.

How I live my faith

I strive to be an example to those I come in contact with by my words and deeds. Serving others brings me the greatest happiness I have ever know. As much as Christ served, we too must serve our fellow man. The Branch of the church where i live sponsor a Cub Scout pack and i serve as a Pack leader. I have been involved with Boy Scouts for a number of years as well as Home Teach several families in the Yuma Colorado Area. This allows me to serve in the community and help families that may not be as fortunate as others. I volunteer my time and talents in the community by being involved with clean up projects, repairing friends vehicles or homes, and finding other ways to be of service to those in need.
