Hi I'm Norm Kirsch

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church as a teenager. It has provided an anchor, a purpose and fulfillment in life.

About Me

I graduated from college with a BS and an MBA. I have always had a fascination with railroads and so I went into a management training program with the Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco. I had a great career and would do it over again. I spent 30 years in transportation. I am now retired. My main hobby is model railroading. This led to my retirement business of painting models for others. I also enjoy reading, traveling and spending time in the mountains. I am a father of two sons and we have six grandchildren. We enjoy quality family time.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager, I attended various chruches. When I was 17, I met a person that invited me to atttend their church meeting. When I walked home, something seemed different. I started reading The Book of Mormon. I felt like the doctrine was something I somehow already new - there was a familarity to it. I started attending church regularly and attending a youth study group called seminary. Through this activity, I came to believe that this was the true church restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I joined the church when I was 18 and went on a mission when I was 20. Coming to gain what we call a testimony of the true church has brought direction, peace, amd meaning to my life by coming to understand what the purpose of life is and what I must do to return to Father in Heaven. It has brought happiness and contentment to me. The restored Gospel is true, Jesus is the Christ and our Heavenly Father lives. The Lord's church has been restored.

How I live my faith

I have had many wat we refer to as callings in the church. A calling is a responsibility to perform a service in the church. There is no paid ministry so everything is performed by the members. I have taught various Sunday School classes, I have been the head of the Young Mens' organization, I have served as the head of the Sunday School, I have fulfilled a two year mission, I have been a leader in Priesthood organizations, I am currently serving as a temple worker, the ward(local church) financial clerk, and a home teacher. A home teacher has families that he visists each month to deliver a spiritual message and to determine if they have need of any help. These calling allow members to grow personally and spititually by serving others. I have been greatly blessed by my calling.
