Hi I'm Beth

I'm a Waldorf homeschooling mom joyfully raising 5 beautiful children, a ramshackle garden, and lots of goats. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom of 5, Waldorf homeschooling the youngest 2. I am an artist and a self-taught homesteader raising dairy goats, chickens, a vegetable garden, citrus trees, and lots of fun! I love watercolor painting and sewing dolls, toys and costumes. I also love provident living and cooking natural and nourishing food for my family. I strive to fill our home with warmth, music, joy and love, even when it's not easy! Every day is a new lesson, and I am discovering that learning never ends. Life is a joyful journey!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church and am a descendent of Mormon pioneer ancestors. The knowledge of my heritage and the strong family unity that surrounded me during my growing up years has helped me stay close to the church even when my faith wavered. As an adult, and a mother, I have seen the many different paths that life can take, and have come to understand that Heavenly Father's plan for us as laid out by the church is truly the most peaceful, and the most direct path to happiness. Having had times in my life where I struggled with my faith and lived without a strong connection to the spirit, I can gladly say that the active relationship between Heavenly Father and his children here on Earth is real! The strength and comfort I feel as I know each day is guided by inspiration is a wonderful feeling. Knowing that I have made the big decisions in my life with His guidance gives me the courage to carry on and keep trying even when it is unbelievably difficult. I know that He will give me the help that I need and also allow me to make mistakes and grow and learn. And I know that the Savior has made it possible for me to repent of those mistakes and then go on to try again.

How I live my faith

At church, I teach a class of sweet little children turning 8 this year. This is a special time for them as they will all have the opportunity to be baptised around the time of their birthdays. They are all so excited for thier special day, and so joyful in thier knowledge of thier Heavenly Father's love for them! My task is to reinforce that testimony and help them learn how they can share that love with others. We tell stories every week from the scriptures and talk about what we can learn from them. I love teaching my class, and I love the time I spend every week reading the scriptures in preparation, thinking about each child in my class, and praying for guidance to be able to teach them with the spirit. Every week I go home smiling and usually have some fun and precious stories to share with my own children about class and what we learned.
