Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Canadian, Daddy, Husband, Business Owner and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The most important part of my life is family. I married my High School Sweetheart and we have 3 beautiful children. I love every second spent with them. One of the highlights of my day is walking in the door to have 3 little kids running towards me screaming Daddy and what tops it off is getting a big kiss from my wife. I love the outdoors whether it be working or playing. I enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, riding horses and playing sports. Throughout my life's experiences I have learned what matters most to me is the time spent with those I love. I remember hearing the following quote and it has played a great impact in my life, "No amount of success can compensate for failure in the home." My greatest success has come through the relationships I made and nourish with my family, friends, co-workers and those I meet each day. I know that true joy and happiness comes through the relationships we make during our lives and most importantly our personal relationship with our Father in Heaven and his Son Jesus Christ. I know the world would have us believe that true joy comes through aquiring material possessions. They are alot of fun but only temporary. My Dad always said, "I've never seen a hearse pulling a Uhaul." When its our time to leave we will take with us the memories, experiences and relationships we have made with all those we love and the material things will stay behind. I know you can find your life's purpose in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending the Mormon church. There is alot that is asked of its members some of which are very hard for young people trying to find their way and who they are. We are taught not to partake of harmful substances such as alcohol, tabacco, coffee, tea and harmful drugs. These are a few of the many temptations throughout life especially during the teenage years. There was a point in my life when I wanted to know for myself if this Church was true and if I should live by its teachings. During this time I was in High School, I worked a part time job and participated in extra curicular activities. At the end of each day I would pray and study the scriptures. I truly wanted to know the truth for myself. Each time I read the scriptures I felt really good and had a desire to become more Christ like. Several months later I remember one specific Sunday in church as the congregation was singing a hymn an overwhelming feeling came over my body letting me know these teachings are true and that the Church is true. The feeling was so strong tears filled my eyes, I couldn't continue singing. I knew that my Father in Heaven had answered my prayers. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I know that it is organized the same way it was when Jesus was on the earth. The church is led by a living Prophet, Jesus Christ is the Chief Corner Stone. The Priesthood Authority which was eventually taken from the earth because of wickedness has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. We are all God's children and are entitled to personal revelation. Just as I came to know the truthfulness of this gospel you can to. Anyone who humbly prepares themselves with a sincere heart can gain their own personal testimony and if you already have one this will only add to it. I love the teachings of this church, I know they are not the church's teachings but the Savior's. Living the commandments has changed my life! I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe no matter what religion we are living, our faith is a way of life. It's not a Sunday way of life but everyday. Living our faith is who we are at the core, it's our values, beliefs and standards. The most important relationship in my life is my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The next most important is with my Wife & Family. When my wife and I were married we formed a triangle with Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ being at the top of the triangle & us at each point. When we put them first in our lives we grow closer to them. As we grow closer to them the triangle becomes smaller which allows us to grow closer together as a couple. It's amazing how close you can be as a family when living & keeping the commandments. I learned the importance & value of daily family scripture study. When we had our first baby we decided to always read him a scripture story prior to putting him to bed. One of the roughest nights was when he was 6 months old. He would not stop crying & go to sleep. We tried everything from changing, feeding, rocking him... but nothing worked. We didn't know what to do & were becoming frustrated. Then we had a thought why don't we let him point to what he wants. We started walking around the house asking him to point, as we followed his precious little finger he led us over to where we always kept the scriptures. At that moment we realized we had forgotten to read the scriptures. We sat down & read our little angel a scripture story, we thanked our Heavenly Father for this tender mercy & put him to bed. He went right to sleep. We are taught from the lives of babes. The scriptures teach us to become as little ones. One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is:"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. "The greatest work we can do is in the walls of our home."
