Hi I'm Shane

I'm a practical joker. I'm a father of 8 crazy kids and a husband to an incredible wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I live in Colorado and we are a combined family of 8 kids. We have been married now for 7 years and each brought 4 kids to the marriage. We have 5 boys and 3 girls, ages 17 to 8 years old. I call it Self Imposed Insanity. I feel like the majority of my life is taken up by hauling around kids, so thank goodness we have kids that can now drive. Now that the kids are getting old I do have some time to do things that I enjoy. I am currently training for a marathon, which means I run several times a week. This is my first race ever and I wonder what in the world I was thinking to run a marathon first. I also enjoy snowboarding and technology. I own an insurance business as well as a small internet/catalog company. Both keep me busy. I enjoy what I do, because both allow me to interact with and help lots of people. I am originally from Roanoke, VA and I have lived in Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, California and Madrid, Spain. My wife and I love to travel. We have been to different locations in Europe and Asia and hope to visit many more places throughout the world as our kids get older.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints since early on in it's history. Even though I have been raised in the church I did have to make the choice if this is something that I believed in and wanted to follow in my life. One day I decided to pray and ask Heavenly Father if this was where I needed to be. I remember receiving the answer to my prayer and knowing that I was a member of the true church of Jesus Christ and that the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ. It was an amazing feeling of peace and comfort. I am grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I am grateful that through His sacrifice and atonement that I can return home and live with my Heavenly Father again some day. I know that our Savior leads and guides us today through living prophets. I am grateful that we have a living prophet in this crazy time who helps us know Heavenly Father's will. Just like He spoke with Moses and Elijah and other great Old Testament prophets, Heavenly Father guides us through Thomas S. Monson today. Most importantly I am so thankful that I can have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I can pray and receive answers to my prayers and receive His guidance for myself and for my family.

How I live my faith

My family and I go to church every week. We attend regular worship services on Sundays and then our kids also have Scouts and Young Women's activities on Wednesday nights. I serve in the church by working with the 14 year old young men. I teach lessons on Sundays and am a part of their activities on Wednesday nights. On Wednesdays we do activities like play softball, BBQ, play ping pong and do service projects. It is a lot of fun serving the youth. We have many different personalities in our group, but they all work hard to support and love one another. They have a sense of unity and watch out for each other. I am proud of our youth. I also serve as a hometeacher. As hometeachers my son and I work to serve two families from church. We try to meet with our families on a monthly basis, share a spiritual thought with the family and see if there is anything we can do to help them. Some times we have helped them shovel snow after a blizzard or just drop off some of my wife's amazing pumpkin bars. It is nice to serve others and get to know their entire family better.
