Hi I'm Elisabeth

I'm a proud Aussie. I love sport and the great outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I reckon I'm a "jack of all trades, master of none" :) but I like the diversity and variety of interests I have in my life. I love playing sports and doing anything outdoors. Growing up in Townsville provided lots of opportunities to climb trees, swim in the river (while avoiding the snakes), eat green ants (actually, that was my brothers...not me) and build cubby houses in the bush. I think I got the love for the outdoors from my dad when we would go sailing, hiking, playing squash and running together and have even been on a hot air balloon ride together. My favourite all time sport is hockey, and I play for an awesome hockey team and have an amazing coach. They inspire me to be better and just have fun. I am getting better at playing the piano and singing... its still a work in progress. ;) And I'm learning how to become a better cook thanks to my work colleagues who all share an interest in fine tasting foods. I really admire the people I work with and the way that they balance their lives with work, family and social commitments. I enjoy my job working with children who have disabilities because of the great attitude of the people around me. I have been privileged to use my skills as an occupational therapist in Moldova and Timor Leste to help people with disabilities there. This has helped me realise what a wonderful country I live in. I'm a true blue Aussie :)

Why I am a Mormon

I love life with all its different challenges and trials that come with it. What keeps me happiest in my life is knowing that God lives and that he loves us. That simple truth is so powerful that it has pulled me through the hardest times in my life. I've come to realise that as I live the teachings of Jesus Christ (as I am honest, as I am kind, as I serve others and choose to follow his example of perfect love), I have the most joy in my life. When I was 14, I wasn't interested in going to church and stopped going for a time. It was also about this time that I became unhappy with my life and things weren't going so well for me. When I took a good look at my life and tried to work out why I was so unhappy, I realised I had pulled myself away from Jesus Christ. So I thought I'd do a simple experiment... I thought I'd start going back to church and see if it made a difference in my life. It did!!! The more I brought myself closer to Jesus Christ, the happier I became. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings happiness in my life and strengthens our family values. Everything in my life is better when I trust in God and trust in His plan for me. I know that he loves each one of us and is mindful of us. He can change your life if you let Him.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by trying to become a better person each day. Be a better friend, be a better team mate, be more supportive of community events and opportunities to serve. As I serve others, I hope that they will feel valued and loved, and know of God's love for them.
