Hi I'm Royal (RK)

I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in Utah. Now retired and living in north Idaho

About Me

I was born aand raised in Utah and attended college there before moving to southern California. I spent 25 years as a police office there and retired in 1988. Retired again after 15 years in the Industrial Security field (my wife says I'm a failure at retirement) and have settled in amongest the rivers and lakes of northern Idaho. I always have some type of project to work on and as a result I never seem to get enough time to travel, fish and play golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have been born into the church with loving parents, grandparents and many relatives that were already members of the church. My family heritage on my father's side were from Europe and came to Utah in Handcarts. A wonderful book on that history by Gerald Lund is "Fire of the Covenant". both sides of my family have a pioneer heritage and came to Utah in the 1800s. I did become inactive in the church for many years (a poor and regretable decision) as a young man butI always knew I would return to the church. I kept putting it off until one day I called a contractor to come and do some work on my house. He took measurements and returned several days later. After discussing his bid he said, "Royal, your a member of the church!" I said, "And you are?" He said, "I'm your Bishop." I had called the Bishop of the Ward I live in to come and work on my house. That was not a coincident. It was the Lord doing what he does best. If you ever watch NCIS you will understand why I knew my Father in Heaven had just slapped me on the back of my head and told me it was time to return. What a blessing that has been. Being an active and faithful member of the church enriches one's life beyond measure!

How I live my faith

I am a Home Teacher. My companion is the Bishop I called to my home to work on a bathroom remodel. I have been ordained a High Priest and I was called to be the Secretary in that organization. I served a mission in the Church Building Maintinence Department in my area and have recently accepted a calling to be the Sudnay School President. But the best part is working in the Spokane Temple as an Ordinance Worker along with service work for those in need. I love the Lord and all he has given me. I am a witness of the love, grace and forgiveness he has for his children and the blessings that come to those who love and serve him.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Royal (RK)
Our primary family worship service is called sacrament meeting. This meeting is held in our chapels on Sunday and lasts approximately 70 minutes. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is common for families to attend, and we are accustomed to having children as part of the congregation. Sacrament Meeting is followed by Sunday School (Scripture Study) and the 3rd hour is Priesthood and Relief Society meetings for adults and classes on church doctirne for the younger age groups.
