Hi I'm Mattie

I'm a single mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 25 years old and a mom to a beautiful daughter. When I am not working as an elementary teacher, I am bowling, playing ping pong, and beating most guys in a game of HORSE. I love being outdoors and am very active. I lived in Bangkok, Thailand during High School and got to travel Southeast Asia competing in soccer, basketball, track and field tournaments. I have also lived in Wisconsin, Utah, California, and Texas. If I could, I would scuba dive every weekend and have season tickets to pretty much any sport. If I could be anyone for just one day, I would probably be Beyonce.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have FUN without compromising any of my standards and values. How did I become Mormon? Well, I was baptized when I was 8 years old but was not an active member of the church. When I was 14 years old and moved to Bangkok, Thailand, a few people had heard that I was from Utah and assumed I was Mormon. They invited me to go to church with them and that's where I learned what being Mormon was actually all about. I started attending church on Sundays and going to the youth activities on Wednesday nights. My testimony grew day by day. My Mormon friends were some of the nicest, most fun people I had ever met; I wanted to be like them. When I heard the lessons being taught on Sunday, somehow I just knew that what I was hearing was true. I felt a peace come over me (with some goosebumps) and a feeling of joy. I felt the love from our Heavenly Father personally, and from then on, wanted to do everything to show my gratitude to Him. I went to church, I prayed, I read the Book of Mormon, I followed the Word of Wisdom by not drinking alcohol or partaking in any addictive substance (drugs, tobacco), and I wore modest clothing. I have been so happy since I started being an active member of the LDS church and will continue following the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to show kindness to everyone that I come in contact with and provide service that will help those in need.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Mattie
I can only talk about what I know. When I wanted to know if the Mormon church was true, I sincerely prayed to my Father in Heaven and simply asked. I felt feelings of peace, happiness, and even felt something warm come over me. I took that as the Holy Ghost telling me it was true. Show more Show less
