Hi I'm Jennie Lynn

I love books, peanut butter and running. My life may not seem glamorous but I love it because, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mom with little time for herself. Some mothering jobs are more fun than others; I'll do anything to get out of mopping my floor! Thank goodness cooking is a chore that is also a joy for me. I love to cook and bake and feed my family good food. I also love to run and read - but not at the same time. My favorite books are about the settlers of the west and midwest, including the histories of the Mormon pioneers. I love books that make me think and teach me something new. Some hobbies that I've put on the back burner for a while are hiking and water skiing. I keep a good water skiing picture of me on my refrigerator just to keep the dream alive!

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born to faithful LDS parents who taught me the gospel from a young age. Our family wasn't perfect but I knew early on that the things my parents taught were right and good. It seems I always knew the gospel was true. Over the years my faith has been tested by doubts or personal trials and as I've prayed for and received answers my faith has grown firmer and stronger. My conversion to the gospel is ongoing. My faith and testimony are always growing as I study the scriptures, study the words of the prophet and pray for guidance and teaching. My testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is most valuable to me. It is everything and shapes every aspect of my life. The knowledge that I am accountable to God for every thought, word and deed is sobering and makes me rely on the atonement of Christ and the gift of the Holy Ghost to help me make those thoughts, words and deeds pleasing to God. It is a constant effort. I'm a Mormon because I believe that God loves all of us and has provided a way for every person who has ever and will live to return to him. I'm a Mormon because I believe that God's plan of redemption is the only way for us have peace in this life and in the next. I'm a Mormon because as I live the commandments I feel closer to God and am better able to feel His love and approval of me.

How I live my faith

I love working with the children in our church. They are so believing and sensitive to the spirit. I currently work in teaching music to the children. The songs that I teach are about Jesus and His love for the children and they also reinforce principles of the gospel. I remember the songs I learned as a child. They have stuck with me and helped me feel the spirit at times when I've felt low and needed a reminder of God's love for me. I know that the songs I am teaching now will do the same thing for these children when they are in a time of need.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Jennie Lynn
Modesty implies submitting oneself to all of God's commandments. Modesty is a form of humility; not seeking praise or attention, wanting to please God more than man(kind). When we are modest in our thoughts and actions we remember that we are subject to God and His commandments. We are commanded to be chaste and a truly modest person will put that above his/her own desires. Modesty is so much more than dressing in a certain way. Modesty can be exhibited in almost everything we do from our manners to the type of things we spend our money on. Show more Show less
