Hi I'm Harold Toomey

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Holly and I have been married for over 30 years and have two grandsons. Holly is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. David, my 28 year old son, just graduated from UVU and is studying to be a doctor. Jonathan, my 26 year old son, is studying to be a Marine Biologist and just earned his PADI Open Water Scuba certification. Andrew, my 24 year old son, is an actor and works at a Vape Store. Heather, my 18 year old daughter, graduated from High School in May 2018 and has been accepted to St. Marry's University (a Catholic School) in San Antonio, TX. By day I am an in software security professional. I work for McAfee LLC as a Sr. Software Security Architect and manage a satelite team of 120 security architects. I ensure our engineers build security into all of our products, applications, and cloud services. By night I am a Calculus and Physics tutor with over 2,000 hours logged. I enjoy publishing my cheat sheets on http://www.toomey.org/tutor to help others. I have run over 100 marathons and ultras, 60 of them with my Pomeranean dog, Roxy. I am the scoutmaster for Boy Scout troop 590, and I am a Sunday School teacher for a class of 12 and 13-year old boys. I attended private Christian schools (Baptist) until High School. My LDS full-time mission was served in South Africa and Zimbabwe when I was 19 years old. I earned a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from BYU in Provo. I served my country as a U.S. Air Force officer stationed in Dayton, Ohio.

Why I am a Mormon

I have read the Book of Mormon and the New Testament many times and I know they both contain the word of God. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know God loves me and that we are all His spirit children. I have investigated and attended dozens of other churches and know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mirrors the church that Christ established more than any other. I strongly believe it to be where my Savior wants me to serve. I served a full-time mission in South Africa and Zimbabwe in 1983-1985. I learned to love the people I served and grew a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. I have raised my 4 children in the church. Two of my sons served full-time missions while the third is inactive. I love them all.

How I live my faith

My family reads the scriptures together every night. We finished the New Testament in 2017. We finished reading the Book of Mormon again in May 2018. I try to live the gospel daily and feel the Spirit of the Lord as I do so. The more obedient I am, the more He blesses me and my family. I attend church every week and serve as a Sunday School teacher for the Deacons/Scouts (11-12 year old boys). I pay an honest and full tithing and attend the temple every other month. We are now debt free.
