Hi I'm Dan Marks

I ride BMX I love reading and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love escaping on my bike and listening to Music. There's nothing like flowing around on the bike while listening to Madseason. I love to learn but didn't always care for school. It was only after school I found the joy that comes from learning. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters and a big dysfunctional family. My parents divorced when I was younger and ever since I traveled to live with my Dad on the weekends. I love my family and wouldn't change my past for anything. A wise friend once told me that you can't regret anything you learn from. I have learned a lot and merit it all to God.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with no real understanding of God. I remember when I was younger my prayers were more like bartering. I lived life "in the now" as I use to say and didn't worry about the past and didn't plan for the future. I got into Highschool and also into that whole scene...started smoking and drinking and that was how I lived my life for a while. I moved out of My Mom's house and went to live with my Dad. This was the start of my conversion. I continued going to High school and made new friends and got deeper and deeper into the drug scene. After graduating I started to feel uneasy about my life and started feeling really unhealthy. My brother joined the church a couple years before I did. At this part of my life he started talking to me about why he joined and I started to change my life. I quit all substance abuse and started to straighten out my life. My brother asked me one night to go on a ride with him. We started driving and I noticed i had no idea where I was, we got to our destination. We were in front of a huge building with a golden statue on top. He brought me to the Boston Temple. He testified to me that he knew that this church was true and that it makes him happy. He invited me to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and to find out for myself if it was all true. I read the Book and prayed and didn't receive any real answer. I kept reading and kept praying and began to recognize how I felt. I felt enlightened and uplifted every time and I knew that it was God telling me this was true. I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, He directs it through His prophet who lives today. I have never had so much peace and happiness in my life until I found this church. I know that this can help you as well. Take the time to push your comfort zone, despite what others might think, and venture out and try to find out for yourself if this is true...

How I live my faith

There is no greater reward in life than knowing that you had part in helping other people be happy. I have had many opportunities to serve within the church in a number of different calling's, and each one helped me grow closer to god while I was helping my brother's and sisters. Christ is our perfect example and I try to live my life as close to His as possible. He served selflessly and loved faithfully. I have been taught through my experience in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have been brought closer to God and closer to those around me as a result of the many diligent leaders and members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints sharing with me their own wisdom and experience that they have learned through following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. I now live each day the best i can because i love my God and i am eternally indebted to Him for sending his son to live and to die for me. There is no greater joy than serving god through serving our brothers and sisters.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Dan Marks
I most certainly do, and I will explain how I have come to this conclusion. A few questions were posed to me that helped me understand why there must be a prophet today. The first was: Does God love us today the same as in the Bible times? the obvious answer, yes; the second: Does god have the same power today as He did in bible times? Yes, He's god; The third: Do we need direction today as we did in Bible times? Another obvious answer, yes of course we do. As I pondered on these questions I have come to the conclusion that there is no reason or evidence to me that there would be no prophet. I was very skeptical and unbelieving when I first heard the doctrine of modern revelation through a modern day prophet. A thought that came to my mind was how the people at the time of Moses would have thought of Him. I would think that they too would have been skeptical and unbelieving, and a lot of them were. I wondered why? I have come to the conclusion that they felt that a "modern day prophet" was to surreal, too close to home for them. The only real way that I know that we have a prophet is because I have prayed and God has answered. This is the only way you will find out as well.
