Hi I'm Dorothy

I grew up in the Boston area. I am a writer and a stand-up comedienne. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am clean and sober for more than three decades. My husband and I love to travel, cook and spend time with our family and friends. I have been a teacher, an actress and a stand-up comedienne. I am currently a full-time writer who still loves to make people laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is true. When I taught high school, my Mormon students introduced me to the church. I was impressed at how centered and happy they seemed, and I wanted that for me and my family.Since I joined the church, I have learned to live outside of myself, to see the world through others' eyes, to serve, comfort and share my gifts. I have never regretted one day of my choice to be baptized. The simplicity and power, of the gospel, have given me a wonderful life.

How I live my faith

I have served as a teacher for adults as well as youth. I am currently in the presidency of our ward (parrish) women's service organization. It is the largest of its kind in the world. We are called upon to serve whenever and wherever needed in our church as well as our community. We work with a humanitarian foundation that serves in hundreds of countries world-wide. Because of my backgrowund, I have also been involved in shows (plays, musicals, etc) for our church.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Dorothy
I believe that Jesus did what is claimed. I believe that He not only took upon Himself our sins, but as he suffered, in the Garden of Gethsemane, He came to understand, every pain and sorrow we would ever experience. He knows how I feel, because he has felt the same. His love is so unconditional, that if the worst person that ever lived was the only one who needed the atonement, He would still have done what He did. That truth helps me to forgive myself as well as others. When I feel hurt or angry by someone's actions, I try to remember Jesus' love, and to see that person through His eyes. I am not perfect, but He and His love are, and that brings me peace. Show more Show less
