Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a writer, a sports nut, and a financial professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Northern Idaho and I've lived here my entire life other than the 2 years I spent on my mission In Ireland. I'm married and a father of 4, 3 boys and a girl. I attended the University of Idaho and am a proud Vandal. I now work in finance. Some of my favorite things are playing and watching sports, reading and writing stories, hiking, fishing, and camping with my family. I also love to cook (and eat) and spend time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the church and so I was born into an LDS family. I was raised with the Gospel and the principles that have helped me to be happy and to start a happy family of my own. The biggest reason I am a member of the church is that it really does help me to be happy. The Holy Ghost, helped me to gain a testimony that the church is true because I asked our Heavenly Father to help me know how I should live my life. I'm far from perfect, but ever since I decided to try to follow Jesus Christ I have found that when I live according to His teachings I find happiness

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do what will create true happiness for my family, myself, and the people around us. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about helping other people because you love and care about them. If everyone in the world made decisions based on their love for others we could all make it a great place to live. To do that I try to follow some basic principles for living such as being honest with people, working hard to support myself and my family, sharing what I have with others, giving time and service to people when I can, etc. Faith is all about taking action to make the world a better place. Jesus Christ instructed us to love one another, so I do my best to let my actions show that I care about others. I don't always do that great a job in all areas, but I try to improve each day.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

We dress in our best clothes for church because we want to show the greatest respect for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. That could mean wearing a nice suit or dress, but the important thing is the intention behind the clothes, that we are showing reverence to God. Also, when we wear our best clothes it puts us in the mindset to be the best person we can. Members of the church celebrate holidays that are celebrated by most other Christian religions including Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and others. We also believe in being joyful people so we celebrate special occasions like weddings, graduations, birthdays and other events. Show more Show less
