Hi I'm Margaret

I'm the wife of a wonderful commercial fisherman, a partner in our own business, mother of 11 and a grandmother and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I always wanted to be a mother and to have a large family. In my younger years I studied accountancy and teaching, and have used the things I learned then, throughout my life as a partner in our family business and as a mother. I have always loved to learn things and enjoy reading and more recently, I have gained a love of taking long walks. I thoroughly enjoyed watching my children participate in athletics and sports and musical and drama performances and I enjoyed spending time with them whether it was working together cleaning house or bowling or going to the movies. I love them so very much. I also enjoy spending time with my dear husband and I have enjoyed learning about and becoming involved in the commercial fishing industry that he was involved in before we met. We take delight in sharing time and laughter with family and friends over a delicious meal of beautiful fresh seafood and salads. I enjoy music, visual and dramatic arts and the world around me. I really enjoy going to bed at night knowing that I have accomplished as much in my day as I possibly could and I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child, my Dad was a Methodist and my Mum was a Presbyterian. I wasn't sure what I was but on occasion we went to either church and I loved hearing Bible stories and stories of Jesus Christ. When I was 10 years old, my family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after my parents investigated thoroughly for about 3 years. I was so excited to be baptized and remember feeling clean and fresh and happy. Some years later I came to know for myself that what I was taught at church was true, as I compared the teachings of the church against worldly teachings and felt the influence of the Holy Spirit testifying that what I had been taught were true principles and only result in true happiness. I have been a member now for 44 years and I love the Church and the Gospel. I love to recognize the Lord's blessings in my life and am amazed at the many "coincidences" I have experienced throughout my life that have shown me that Heavenly Father loves me, even though I am not perfect. When I was at university I studied a unit in philosophy and the one truth that I realized at that time was that a person's belief about God's existence makes no difference to the reality about His existence. I testify that He does exist, as I have personally felt His influence and His great love for me and I have seen for myself, the amazing influence He has had in my life. The wonderful thing is that He doesn't want to remain a stranger to any of us. He wants to be a part of our lives and He wants us to know for ourselves that He does exist and, more than that, He loves us. All we have to do is ask Him to manifest Himself in our lives and He will. I also know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and experienced all suffering so that we can turn to Him for comfort and understanding and have absolute confidence in Him.

How I live my faith

I want to serve and help others to know that God does exist and loves them beyond their comprehension, and that He has provided a way for them to return and be with Him again after this short, mortal life. I am a leader and teacher amongst the women of the Church in my local area. Whilst I am imperfect and have my own challenges in life, as everyone does, I am trying to learn to serve others as Jesus Christ, Himself, would serve them.
