Hi I'm Doris

I grew up on a farm in Idaho and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I raised my three kids on a cattle ranch in Idaho and was a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse. After my kids grew up, my husband and I spent a lot of our winters in southern Utah so we could golf. I now have 14 grandkids and 19 great-grandkids. I live with my daughter who takes care of me. I do family research indexing, which is going through old records online to help complete family genealogy. I also do crossword puzzles and read a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I married an inactive Mormon boy and moved to a ranch where the only church was the LDS Church. When my daughter was born, I thought she needed a church, so she and I went. I was going to church regularly when the bishop gave me a calling to be a teacher, so I had a calling before I was even baptized. It was in doing this that I first felt the Spirit and decided to listen to the missionary discussions. They came from a nearby town and said they didn't know why I wasn't already baptized because I already seemed like Mormon. So I was finally baptized by my bishop.

How I live my faith

I didn't think I could do it, but one night I knelt down beside my bed and asked Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true and before the words were even out of my mouth the answer came plainly, "you know it's true". I go to church every Sunday, pay my tithing, do family research indexing, and go to the temple when I'm able. I fast and pray. One of my favorite verses of music is verse 6 of Hymn #195: "How great, how glorious, how complete Redemption's grand design, Where justice, love and mercy meet In harmony divine!"
