Hi I'm Jan

Although grammy and mom are a couple of my favorite titles, my given name is Jan; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in AZ, raised in AZ, married in AZ, and have raised six children in AZ. Other than spending enough time in Utah to receive a degree in education from Brigham Young University, I guess you could say I'm an Arizona girl. My best friends are the members of my family, and I treasure my time with each and every one of them. I have twelve grandchildren who I love to be with - they are fabulous company! I am a recent empty nester and spend lots of time with my husband, whom I love more than I did the day I married him. I have more interests and desires than I have time. I love to snow ski whenever I have the opportunity. I love to be outdoors. I enjoy sewing - I like the creative process. I enjoy cooking - that's because I enjoy good food with family and friends, and also because I've had so many great times in my kitchen cooking with my daughters. I like to garden and read and hike and bike.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that attended the Mormon Church and have ancestors who were Mormon pioneers. Through the years, I have discovered for myself how much this church means to me. I have received the assurance through the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ is my Savior. This knowledge gives me hope and purpose and joy, and it sustains me through the challenges of life. I have a knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, which gives me the promise of eternal life with my family. The Mormon church is all about family! I love having a prophet that speaks for the Lord today. I love being united with others in faith and purpose. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not blessed by my membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, the Mormon Church.

How I live my faith

The Mormon Church is not just a "Sunday religion", but a way of life. As I pray each day, study the scriptures and words of the prophets, and serve others, my faith grows. The church has given me many opportunities to serve throughout my life. One of the first opportunities I was given to serve at church was when I was a young teenager. I was asked to play the organ for Sunday School. Since then I have served in many capacities - teaching children, organizing activities, working with teenage girls..... It's just amazing how many opportunities there are for service within the church! Currently, I am serving with the women in the church. There is a sweet spirit of sisterhood that I feel with other women as we strive to live the gospel together. With each responsibility, I have grown and felt an increase in my testimony and learned from the examples of others I have served with.
