Hi I'm Lisa

I am a military wife, a full time mom, a photographer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the proud wife to my husband who is a US Air Force officer. I am mom to two beautiful little girls and one amazing little boy who is our Angel. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Art specializing in Photography at the age of 19 and enjoy working with photography when I get the chance.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised Mormon. As a teen, I had an phase where I questioned if the church was true. Sometimes growing up, you do things because your parents do them, and it's just what you do. I decided to take my faith into my own hands. After reading the Book of Mormon, I knelt down and I prayed to find out if everything I had been taught and read was true. I received a warm feeling in my heart confirming to me that it was true. After that moment, I relied on my own faith instead of that of others and built upon it. Now more than ever I am absolutely convinced that it is true! We lost our son who was only 2 1/2 months old a couple years ago. How grateful I am to know that our Father in Heaven has a plan for all of us and that we can be with our families for eternity. Heavenly Father loves us and knows us personally and everything we have going on in our lives. He will guide and comfort us to follow the correct path and wants us to return to live with him again! Living the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me peace and direction in my life.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve with the church. I have worked with teaching young children, to working with cub scouts, to teaching the women's organization.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

We very much have a living prophet today. God is a loving Father. He had prophets during biblical days to help lead and guide his children, so why would he not have prophets to lead and guide his children in these latter days? Our living prophets are very much called by God and do his will and guide us the way we need to go today. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He loves us and will always give us guidance. Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Yes, he did. In the bible, as he taught his apostles and followers, he told them that he had other sheep that are not of this fold. Jesus always showed love for those he was surrounded by. That love did not just stay specific to those in that region, but to everyone who lived in the world, thus after his death and resurrection, he went to visit and teach and bless the children of the world who lived outside of the middle east area. What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Mormon services are held on Sundays and are 3 hours long. It consists of 3 different blocks of meetings. The main meeting, is Sacrament meeting. This is a chance for us to partake of the sacrament each week. It is one of the most important parts of our services, as by partaking of the sacrament, we repent and renew our baptismal covenants (promises). The rest of sacrament meeting, there are assigned talks by different members of the congregation. The first Sunday of the month is fast and testimony meeting. After the sacrament is passed out, the remaining time is open for anyone who wants to get up and share their testimony with the congregation. The second hour is when we have Sunday school (taught by members of the congregation as well). The third hour, the women and men split to have separate meetings. The youth split between young men and young women. Younger kids have Primary the second and third hour which is split between individual class time with their age group and a larger group meeting. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Men and Women are absolutely equal in the church. Does that mean we have the same rolls and responsibilities to fulfill, no, but that does not make us any less equal. Men and women are by divine design different and for a reason, but we are very much equal. One way I was taught was like this: 2+2=3+1. Both sides of the equation are equal, but the separate equations are different. Show more Show less
