Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in Arizona. I found the church at 18. Now I know who I am. I am a child of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married father of 5. I work as a transportation sales consultant and my work takes me all over Arizona. I have an electronics engineering degree but I work in sales now. I enjoy trying to fit everything in the van to go camping with the family. I fly radio controlled airplanes. I like to make things with my hands. Wood is my preferred building material. I like to fix broken things around the house rather than buying new things. I love my family time but also appreciate time that is just for me. I know what it is like for my marriage and family life to not be a bed of roses but I also know that my wife and kids are worth the effort to change who I am to be able to have them forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I found the church as I was looking for myself after finishing high school. I was really looking for my earthly ancestry. I was introduced to the church and found my heavenly ancestry. The gospel of Jesus Christ and the church helped me to know why I am here and where I am going. I have an eternal perspective on life now. That perspective tempers my decisions and gives me courage to make difficult personal decisions. I want my eternal family and am willing to make sacrifices to follow the Savior in order to obtain the blessing he promises. I know I am a child of Heavenly Father. I know that my Savior lives and loves me. He sacrificed his perfect life to give me a second chance for a heavenly life of my own. He rose again on the third day to enable me to one day rise again. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have searched its pages and felt its power. It fills my soul with the peace that the spirit brings. I feel Gods great love for all of us in its pages. I have knelt and prayed to the Father to know if it is true and have felt the sweet embrace of the spirit testify to my spirit that it is true. God has placed prophets once again on the earth to commune with the Lord and guide the work of his church. Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet today just as Joseph Smith was when God first restored the fullness of his gospel in these latter days. I am a Mormon because I know that these things are all true.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have served in many ways in the church. I have taught principles of the gospel to the children and young people of the church in Sunday school. I have taught the values and skills of the Boy Scout program to young men. I led the way as a Scoutmaster on countless camping trips. I have worked alongside the Bishop of our ward congregation to organize church services and help carry his mighty load. All along the way I am lifted and strengthened by the goodness and the service of hundreds of wonderful members of the church and communities where I have lived. All of this service would be for naught if I failed to serve at home. As a family we eat together, play together, pray together, and teach each other how to be true disciples of Jesus Christ. My wife is my spiritual strength and my greatest partner in this life. The gospel shows me the way and my family gives me the opportunity to be tested. I look for ways to change my ways to be more like Christ's ways every day. I see his influence in each day of my life. Hearing the spirit can be hard with all the noises of the world, but hearing the spirit gives me needed strength to carry on. There has been no trial in my life that the Savior has not carried me through or helped me overcome. The day becomes brighter and the way becomes clearer every day that I sacrifice my will to choose a better way. My work is far from over but there is joy in my labor.
