Hi I'm Larry Gardiner

I was born in Lincoln Nebraska. I am a Senior Geologist for an Environmental Consulting Company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid runner. I love to run. I have run race distances from 5 Kilometers to Marathons. My favorite race is the Bolder Boulder 10 K road race run on Memorial day each year. Prior to taking up distance running I was a sprinter in college on the track team. I also enjoy getting out on my road bike and cycling as cross training. My wife and I have two sons and two daughters who are now grown and have families of their own. I have a Masters Degree in Geology and have worked as a geologist in the oil and gas industry and now in the environmental consulting industry. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I first heard of the church when my family moved to Idaho when I was 12 years old. But it was not until I was 17 that I had the opportunity to listen to the message of the church when a friend asked me if I would be interested in learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. After listening to the missionaries tell about Heavenly Father's plan for us and reading the Book of Mormon, I knew the church was true and desired to join. However, my parents would not let me join and I had to wait until I was 21 before I could join without their consent. The church has been a great blessing in my life. I have had opportunities to serve the Lord in many callings and have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost in guiding and directing my life. I know that Jesus Christ is at the head of the His church here on earth and we have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who is the Savior's mouth piece to us today. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he did see the Savior and and Heavenly Father and was instrumental in restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. The Book of Mormon is the word of God just as the Bible is the word of God. I know the Savior loves me and he loves you and he wants all of us to return one day and live with Him and Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

The Lord has given me many opportunities to serve and help others. I have taught gospel lessons to young children, youth, and adults. My wife and I have taught the gospel to our children as they were growing up. We have family prayer together and read the scriptures. I have served in leadership positions in the wards and stakes I have lived in. I have served as a counselor to the ward bishop on several occasions which gave me a chance to get to know people and to try to make a difference in their lives. Recently, I have enjoyed my calling in serving on the high council in our Stake with a specific assignment over the welfare and employment needs of the members. It has been rewarding to participate with people in such organized and relevant assignments and to see someone lifted out of their tough circumstances through the help of the Lord and the programs He authorizes at this time. Since joining the church, I have been able to be a home teacher and I have grown to love the families I have served. The church is an incredible place to learn and to serve and I am thankful for so many opportunities.
