Hi I'm Thomas Chamberlain

I’ve traveled the world as a singer. I love to snow-ski and backpack. I’m a husband, father, orthodontist and I'm a mormon

About Me

Although my name is Thomas, most people call me Tom...or Doctor...or 'hey you!' I was born and raised in Nevada. I learned the love of skiing at the age of 7 years old in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Lake Tahoe. At the age of 11, my family moved to Utah and that placed me 15 minutes from some of the best skiing in the world. I lived in California for two years while I was a missionary for the church. I attended college and met the most precious woman in the world to me. During our early years of marriage, we were able to travel throughout the United States, Europe, Scandinavia and Russia as entertainers. While in college, my wife and I were very active in music/theatre and dance. Upon graduation from college, we moved to Oregon where I attended dental school and post-doctoral work in Orthodontics. After 7 years in Oregon we found a home in Arizona. I’m fortunate to work in my great profession in our community. We have four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. They keep us busy with all their activities of football, dance, piano lessons, scouts, etc. Somehow, we have managed to teach our children to ski (thanks to short ski trips to Utah during the winters). Some of my other interests are backpacking, training for sprint triathlons and traveling with my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to have parents who taught me the gospel at an early age. I had a knowledge and understanding of who I was, where I came from and where I was going at a very early age. I was eight years old when I heard first hand from an apostle of Jesus Christ. I was sitting outside the chapel during church. I don’t remember much of what he taught that day, but I distinctly remember the feeling of knowing that he was speaking the truth. Since that time, I’ve had that feeling of knowing and feeling the truth many times throughout my life as I’ve listened to men and women who are called of God to serve people here on earth. Additionally, having an academic background and mindset, I have contested those inner feelings with what I have learned about the doctrine of Jesus Christ. Combining this learned knowledge with my spiritual witnesses of truth, I can fervently state that I know that there is a God. He loves us and He has a plan of happiness for each of us. This plan involves a Savior and His name is Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Being a father of 4 amazing children and husband to a beautiful and intelligent wife, I want to be the best person I can be for them. I find that I best live my faith when I am consciously working to becoming the best husband and father I can become. This means being fiercely loyal to my wife and spending quality time with my children. It means listening to them and their concerns. Helping them and giving council to them. It means striving to be known as a person of integrity at work and at home. In short, it means following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Further, I’m involved in my faith throughout the week. Since we have no paid clergy, I help with the administration of our congregation as a councilor to our leader, my bishop. I also work with the youth and the music of the church in our area. All of these are so fulfilling as I get to work with some amazing, capable and diverse people in my area.
