Hi I'm Lincoln

I am a retired university professor, a father and a grandfather and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 70 years old and have raised a family of 7 children. I have 9 grandchildren and love being around them. I am an avid reader and love to travel. As a child I had Polio and that has offered me some challenges in my life but at the same time some marvelous blessings. I spent my career teaching and interacting with people and that has brought me great joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church and was active for many years. Then my mother fell away and then my father and finally I did. When I was about 14 I had a man in the church care enough that he didn't give up on me until I was will to give it a try again. Soon after that I came to realize what I had been missing in my life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ added a fullness and dimension that I never knew existed. I came to know that the church that Jesus Christ had set up had now been restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. That he translated the Book of Mormon, a history of the people who lived on the American Continent. It teaches that after the Saviors resurrection that he appeared to the people on this continent and taught them the true gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. That in addition to the the Bible we have another witness of the saviors work. I know that we are led by a prophet today, Thomas S Monson and that he received revelation as did the prophets of old. I know the the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Our young children wear rings with the initials CTR on then. This stands for Choose The Right. It is a reminder that when we choose the right path in our lives when we make the right decisions then we feel the happiness of knowing that what we are doing is correct and that gives us the satisfaction of of knowing that what we are doing is good. We taught our children a little saying that goes like this. The Day I Turn Obedience Into A Quest Rather Than An Irritation Is The Day I Gain Power. This is what my faith has taught me. Heavenly Father has given us commandants for a reason - that is to bring us joy when we obey them. I know that through obedience to His commandants I will be happy in my life. That doesn't mean that my life will be perfect and pain free but it does mean that I know I have done what is right and will feel the blessings of following the teaching and commandants of God.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Lincoln
We have our youngest son learning Japanese and will serve a two year mission for the Church in Tokyo, Japan. It seems like a strange time for young men to leave behind college and jobs and friends and go out at their own expense and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ but he is excited to do this and has planned for this moment since he was a child. As he enters the homes of the people in Tokyo he will bring a message of hope and joy as people are offered the opportunity to embrace the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
