Hi I'm Brittany

I grew up in New Jersey. I am a writer and editor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have spent the last ten years getting my undergraduate and graduate degrees in English, editing, and writing. I love to learn a little bit about everything and read as many picture books, middle grade and ya novels as I can. I think good literature stretches the soul and causes readers to reexamine their beliefs. I am interested in understanding people and situations from new perspectives.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent many years deciding whether I wanted to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I didn't want to be a half-hearted, half-committed member. I felt scared and unsure about giving myself over to my God and trusting my simple testimony of the gospel. In my college years, I decided to exercise my faith and commit to being the best member I could be. I have realized I do not need to be perfect to be a member of the LDS church. I make mistakes, I get lazy, my heart begins to harden to the truths of the gospel. Then, I try to shake off the doubts, the worries, the troubles, and I repent and try again. I strive always to have faith, to strengthen my testimony, to learn the gospel, and to love my God. When I falter, I fall on my knees in prayer and look to my family and friends to help me get back on the path that I know will bring me the greatest happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. I have always felt strongly that my purpose here is not live for myself and my desires alone. I want to help other people. I want to get involved in their lives and hear their stories. I want to help strengthen them, lighten their burdens, laugh and celebrate as friends. When you get to know a person you better understand them, and if I can understand their story I can grow to love them. If I love them, I am serving my God.
