Hi I'm Joseph

I live and work in Queensland. I run a small engineering consultancy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Queensland, I have a Masters in Engineering, I'm a consulting engineer, I married a local farm girl and together we have just about finished raising four children. In my day-to-day work I wear all the hats associated with managing a small business but I love the challenge of finding simple engineering solutions to complex problems. I really enjoy seeing our designs take shape into interesting and elegant structural solutions. I have enjoyed the fun, challenges and benefits of being a husband and father. I have interests in software design, drawing, photography, reading, woodturning, travel, cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, climbing and hiking - it feels like too many hobbies and interests to fit into one lifetime.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active church going family. My parents joined the Mormon church as a young couple and I have enjoyed growing up in a church that has a rich and varied culture to support families raise children and grow their faith. As a youth I gained a firm knowledge of the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ shared that message by serving as a missionary for the church when I was 19. I love the peace that comes from my understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this world of turmoil, calamaties, war and injustice I find great solace in the perspective the church teachings provide. I know why I am here on the this earth - I understand God's purposes and plan for me and my family. I know we can return to our Father in heaven after this life. This knowledge means that while I still feel all the shock, horror, despair and outrage of a troubled world I can maintain hope, find courage to push on and look forward to a bright future. I know my participation as a Mormon helps me to be a better person than if I had no faith, it brings joy and happiness in my life and faith in an eternity of possibilties.

How I live my faith

I attend chuch worship meetings each Sunday with my family. At the moment my participation in the church includes administering the local website, compiling the history of our ward, and working with others to help church members to achieve self reliance and be prepared to provide for themselves in hard times. Each month I go with a friend to visit several families from our congregation to provide a message of support and offer any assistance that might be needed.
