Hi I'm Kerry

I am the very model of a Mormon Major-General. I work and pray and Visit Teach; sometimes I write -- remarkable!

About Me

I am blessed to be a wife/mother/daughter/sister/auntie/niece/cousin/friend/neighbor/co-conspirator...and more! I love small-town life, sharing a farmette with my husband, mother, son, pit bull, cats, goat, horse, fish and chickens! I'm an author of LDS-themed novels and nonfiction. The only thing I enjoy more than writing is reading. I am a cancer survivor, and while I do still have Multiple Sclerosis -- I have so much more besides!

Why I am a Mormon

I took the first missionary lesson shortly after I turned nineteen and was baptized less than a week later. I married in the temple, raised four children in this faith, and continue to cherish my membership more than life itself. I am a Mormon because I know in my heart that faith -- true faith in the true gospel of Jesus Christ -- manages. Life often isn't fair and it sometimes isn't fun, but coming to understand the Plan of Salvation helps me maintain hope, joy, and gratitude in any circumstance. All these years later, I am still a Mormon because, well, I can't imagine being anything else!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by holding fast to the proverb: In precept great clarity; in practice great charity. The gospel of Jesus Christ is all about being a Christian. I try to remember that, no matter what I'm doing on any given day. I've worked at just about every way there is to serve in the LDS Church. I've taught Sunday School lessons to little people of 3 and adults of 93.I've spoken at youth and women's conferences of 300+. I've organized regional meetings and tiny book groups. I've taken teenage girls camping, elderly sisters shopping, and little kids to tour temple grounds. Just yesterday I taught a group of Cub Scouts to tie knots. (It is easier to herd kittens.) Along the way I have learned more than I have taught and been blessed ever so much more than I've served.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I really do! Growing up, my hero was the Apostle Peter. I could scarcely contain my excitement when missionaries told me that God has sent apostles to us today! (Wow!) Among the greatest of my life experiences have been the special times I have sat (almost literally) at the feet of modern prophets and apostles of God. I have heard their words of counsel, been thrilled by the overwhelming influence of the Spirit of God, and felt the awesome love Christ and Our Father have for each of us in these difficult days.
