Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in the United States. I've been married to my husband for 28 years. I'm a mother of 6 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being a stay-at-home mom has allowed me to actively support my kids in their many school and extracurricular activities. Over the years I've been to countless band and choir concerts and sporting events. It's fun to watch my children grow and be responsible adults. I enjoy reading books like Harry Potter by J K Rowling and other fantasy books from authors like David Eddings and Terry Brooks. Music is an important part of my life and I love playing the piano and singing. I do the daily crossword puzzlesin pen. With 5 girls I've sewed countless modest prom dresses and with 1 boy I've sewed numerous ties (much easier than dresses). Eating yummy foods is a lot of fun. Years ago I started a new tradition for our family by highlighting a different country or region on Christmas Eve. We try to incorporate how they celebrate Christmas if it is a Christian culture otherwise we just highlight the country. It's been fun trying foods from around the world. I stay fit by running, swimming and biking. I've finished 1 marathon and 2 triathlons and participated in 1 Ragnar Relay (coming down with the flu in the middle of the race). I enjoy camping with my family and going on family trips. My children are growing up and leaving the nest and now we have just one child at home.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was baptized when I was 8 years old. In my teenage years I had to come to learn for myself that the gospel was true. I didn't have a huge manifestation that it was true; I came to realize that I did believe everything I had been taught as a child was true and the warm comforting feeling of the Holy Ghost bore witness to me that I had a testimony of these things. I love the direction and guidance the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me in my life which helps me keep myself from sin and live a happy life. Having the knowledge that we will live again and be reunited with loved ones made losing my dad and other loved ones easier to bear. I love my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every Sunday and by following the example of my saviour Jesus Chirst every day. At church I've worked with the children, youth and women. My favorite job was teaching the children music each week. Now I work with the women and I'm finding joy as I visit with and serve them. I've been an active participant in school booster clubs so I could be involved in my children's activities. My children have friends of other faiths and it's been wonderful to see my children support their friends by attending their baptisms into their churches, helping to assemble Christmas packages for children around the world, and attending other youth group activities. We love our friends. As parents my husband and I have stood up for important causes that have impacted our family and we take advantage of the right to vote by participating in elections. We try to teach our children by example. If a certain movie isn't appropriate for them it isn't appropriate for us. If they have to wear a bike helmet; we wear bike helmets. Then we they see their father and I living our religion we hope they will follow our example and want to live their religion too.
