Hi I'm Craig

I'm a Mormon. I am a Psychology Graduate. I grew up in England, but will be relocating to Vancouver, Canada in November 2011.

About Me

I'm about to start the biggest adventure of my life. I am moving away from my family, friends and all that I know to live in Vancouver, Canada for a year, maybe longer. Family and friends are very important to me but this is something I feel I need to do, having wasted opportunities I have had in the past. I have just graduated from University after 4 yours of studying Psychology & Counselling and I really want to make the most of my new qualification and talents. In my free time I love to write, and read a lot. i have been working on a novel for years and I am determined to finish it by the end of 2012. I am a naturally curious and sociable person so I am often out with friends and off exploring and trying new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for me. There is a purpose for each of us in this life, and God is there for us as we follow Him. It has taken me years to learn this. I first encountered the Church at the age of 28, when I was researching an assignment for university. I found the website very informative and helpful for the purposes under which I encountered it, but it also raised questions for me that had often plagued me in the past. Why are we here? and does God even care?, were questions that often puzzled me and as I continued to read the scriptures online I began to find answers to these questions, and more; answers that actually made sense to me, in a context that I could understand. Being able to find my own answers within the scriptures was such an empowering experience for me and it filled me with such warmth and reassurance. I knew that I had found something very special. I would often sit down after university and just read and contemplate the articles in the Ensign online. After reading and watching the video testimonials of members on mormon.org, I always finished feeling very uplifted and filled with a sense that everything will work out for me. I had never felt such affirmation before and it was a feeling that I wanted to keep a hold of. I became a member of His church because I wanted to keep that feeling in my life.

How I live my faith

The ward that I am a member of is so warm and friendly that everyone feels like family. I regularly teach Sunday School lessons for the Young Single Adults of my ward. I am also the Young Single Adult representative for my ward. In the past I have assisted in fundraising efforts and I have also helped organize other activities. I am currently working on a ward newsletter format that will allow those less technologically minded members to participate in submitting articles and stories.
