Hi I'm MaryEllen

I'm a Mormon. I have been happily married for 43 years. We have blessed with 10 wonderful children and 26 grandchildren.

About Me

Hi. My name is MaryEllen and I am a mom. grandmother and great-grandmother. I got married to the love of my life before I finished college, but I still graduated (just a summer later than scheduled). My 2nd child was born shortly after graduation. We have 10 wonderful children with whom I enjoy spending time, 35 grandchildren, and in a few weeks, our 2nd great-grandchild will arrive. Things I enjoy doing include embroidery, sewing, reading, playing games with my family, and playing the piano and organ. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I love to serve in the Temple. We have 150 beautiful Temples around the world and they are so lovely both inside and out. I find great peace when I am in the Temple, and I feel so close to my Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful to know my family can be a forever family, not just a family here on Earth.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was born, my parents were already members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In fact, my family has been Mormons for several generations, but I enjoy being a Mormon because I feel so happy and peaceful most of the time. I have learned about how families can be Eternal families, together forever, and because I love my family so much, I don't ever want to be without any of them. I enjoy learning how Jesus Christ taught people to love and serve each other, how he taught us we can be forgiven when we sin. I want to become more like Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In church, I have a couple callings. One is that I have the privilege of visiting each with other ladies in our ward as a visiting teacher. Sometimes we talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ, but always we visit so we can get to know each other better. Something else I do is work with Family History. Learning about my ancestors and helping others learn about theirs is something I really enjoy. Working with Family History is like putting together a GIANT puzzle, and when I find another missing piece, I feel great joy and satisfaction.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

MaryEllen
I am very thankful to know that my family can be an Eternal family -- together forever. We have 2 grandchildren who died before age 4 and if I couldn't ever be with them again, I would feel a terrible loss. However, I know we can be together again as a family and that knowledge gives me great comfort. Show more Show less
