Hi I'm Cheryl

I was raised in the White Mountains of Arizona. My family was in ranching. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of 6 children, one daughter and 5 sons, with two of the boys being twins. My husband has 4 children. So we are the parents of 10 children and 19 grandchildren. We live in Phoenix and have our own business. It amazes me how we can live together and work together as we do. Especially since we were married in our mid 40's. That's usually when you are pretty set in your ways! We have been so blessed to share our lives together. I am so grateful to have a wonderful companion who has the same goals in life as I do. I grew up in ranching. I was riding a horse when I was very young, as I recall, about 5. It is a heritage that has been passed down through may generations on both my mother's and my father's lines. My mother's family came from Texas and my father's family were pioneers to the White Mt. of Arizona. I have wonderful memories of being at both ranches of my grandparents. My mother's parents ranched just beyond the Arizona line in New Mexico. My sister and I swam in stock tanks, explored old homestead houses, moved the cattle from pasture to pasture with our dad, and love to watch the bulls fight down at the corrals when they came in to water. My father's parents had forest pasture and what great fun we had in the high country! Because of my great love for heritage and family, I enjoy geneology research.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints when I was twenty. It has given me the courage and the foundation to weather the rough storms life has brought. I know that God loves each one of us as if we were the only one he has. Each one of us has great worth and potential, because we are his children. I also know that as I strive to live my life by following the teachings of Jesus Christ, I draw closer to him and to the eternal blessings that lay ahead. What great strength, courage and hope this gives me!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being true to who I am. I have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. I know I am a daughter of God and because of this have divine worth. We all do! I have worked in the Scouting program as a Weblos Scout Den Mother, Boy Scout Advancement Chairman and Boy Scout Chairman. I have earned the adult equilivant to the Eagle Scout. Out of my 5 boys, 3 are Eagle Scouts and one completed his Star rank. I have been able to work also with the young women in the Young Women's Program. I have taught the younger children, worked in the nursery and been able to also work with the adult women. It has been so much fun throughout the years and I have grown as well. One paticular highlight was the night when my 3 oldest boys received the Eagle Scout Awards and I received my "Woggle and Beads." I know my life has been fuller and richer because of these opportunities in the Church. And what fun I have had through the years in getting to personally know so many wonderful people. Currently I am working with the adult women. We recently collected school supplies for a elementary school in Mexico. What an enriching experience it is for me to associate with other women who are dedicated to making others lives better. I have witnessed many sacrifices of time, talents and money as some of these fine women have assisted in helping others! We have one woman who was in a terrible car accident years ago and as a result, is paralized from the neck down. She is such a joy to be around. She said for awhile she was angry, but now she lives her life with a positive outlook. It's these types of wonderful ladies that strengthen my life and my faith.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by living our lives in harmony with his commandments. This has been a focus of mine this year. We are living in troubling times and I feel as though I need to draw closer to the Saviour to have the strength to endure the trials life presents. I am trying to increase my faith by reading his teaching through the scriptures. I pray for my faith to strengthen as I strive to keep my life in line with his teachings so I can have his Spirit near me. There have been many times when the calming assurance of the Spirit has given me hope and comfort to know I am not alone in my journey here on the earth. When I focus on eternal goals, I feel greater peace and I can keep things in an eternal perspective. This life will be fleeting in the end, but eternity will never end. That gives me hope and great strength when the sorrows, disappointments, injustices, and sadness are hurled my way! There is just more to life than this day to day existence. Show more Show less
