Hi I'm Glen Lukens

I'm a Mormon. I have been in the church now for 38 years and love it. It has blessed my life beyond measure.

About Me

Hello, I am a building contractor that is currently flipping homes in the east valley. My interests are boating, football, basketball and camping. I raced motorcycles in my youth. I got married in 1984, got a business degree in 1985 and moved to California where we lived for twenty years. My wife is a native Arizonan and her wish was fulfilled when we moved to Arizona in 2004. We have four children ranging from nineteen to twenty-six. I love the sunny, blue sky Arizona weather. I enjoy the small town and friendly atmosphere and especially the lack of freeway traffic.

Why I am a Mormon

While attending high school I met a beautiful young lady that was a “Mormon”. Quite accidently I fell in love with this girl and learned about her new found religion. I had long discussions and asked endless questions about the religion. I attended church for a year and read the Book of Mormon. I had felt the influence of the Holy Ghost many times, but it wasn’t until I took the missionary discussions that I realized that I needed to become a baptized member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I remember my baptismal day; it was the most exciting and happiest day of my life. That was thirty eight years ago and I thank God each day for the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I rely heavily on the counsel given by the living prophets. I have been blessed by being married in the Arizona Temple which means my wife and I are sealed for all eternity along with our children based on our faithfulness. The Lords plan is simply beautiful and beautifully simple. I treasure my membership in this church and appreciate the many great influences and friends that affect my life. I am a better person as a result of my membership in this church.

How I live my faith

Based on the teachings of Jesus Christ I’m encouraged to do, and be, my very best. Strong character is central to the Lords plan and through his teachings I have the opportunity to practice Christian principles each day as a family member, a neighbor, a member of my community and as a member of my church. One of the greatest satisfactions I have is giving service to someone in need. This always lightens my burdens and lifts my soul. The two great commandments are to love God, and love your fellowman. The opportunities are endless if we look for them. As a member of a ward I am given the opportunity to practice Christian principles on those I associate with. I can teach a Sunday school lesson, I can give a talk in church, and through the priesthood whichI hold I can bless the sick and injured and help them become whole. On a regular basis I have the opportunity to fast and pray for personal needs and pay a fast offering that helps the less fortunate. I can pay tithing that helps the church go forward with missionary work and temple building. Through living the principles of the gospel, my faith and testimony of Jesus Christ and is constantly strengthened. My gratitude for the Lord is increased and day by day I become a better person.
