Hi I'm Keith

I'm a Mormon. I'm just a regular guy. Working and enjoying my kids and grandkids.

About Me

I’m an average guy, but I have a fantastic wife, four great children, and four-and-a-half grandchildren. If I knew grandkids were so much fun, I would have had them first. I like camping and star-gazing and watching meteor showers. But I’m pretty much a home-body and quite dull.

Why I am a Mormon

I was active in my family’s Protestant church growing up. I loved it. But after high school, I rarely went to church. When I was a hippie and living in Woodstock, I hooked up with the missionaries. The things the missionaries taught me and what I read in the Book of Mormon sounded familiar to me. It just seemed right. The first time I went to church was the first Sunday of the month- fast Sunday. We call it fast Sunday, because we go on a twenty-four hour fast (no food or drink) and donate what we would have spent on food to the church for feeding and clothing the poor. On this Sunday, during the church service, members of the church may walk up to the pulpit and bear witness that Jesus is our Savior. No one told me that this Sunday is different from other Sundays and I assumed this was the kind of service they had every week. At this point, I thought Mormons were all just nuts. I returned, though, and the church and its teachings just grew on me. With more study, instruction, and prayer my faith grew. As I said before, it all sounded familiar. The Holy Ghost bore witness to my heart that it was familiar because I had, in fact heard it before. It was eternal truth taught to me (and to you and to everyone else) while we lived as a spirit children with our Father in Heaven. The Holy Ghost has also borne witness to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the same church Jesus established when He was upon the earth. He guides it and directs it today through prophets and apostles as he did anciently. I can testify that life as a member of the church is much more fulfilling and happier than life as a hippie. The gospel has brought me true peace and contentment.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the Savior’s example. My goal is to be kind, loving and of service to all those around me. Being human, I do not do this perfectly. I am thankful for repentance and the love and patience of the Lord. I enjoy teaching gospel principles in Sunday School and Priesthood classes or in a talk (sermon) at church. I read the scriptures and pray every day. I accept and do my best to fulfill assignments given to me by my bishop. I visit, teach and serve a few families I have been asked to watch over.
